If you think a cut and paste from some official website is actual reality when a country is under attack you've been watching too much BBC.

He may be a bit mad but unless he has completely lost the plot and willing to press the button (in which case we are all fooked anyway), then he is not going to take on effectively the rest of the civilised world.

As stated though, his threats to use nukes now if they came to fruition, would result in the exact same outcome as if he did so in other scenarios. I'm not saying that he'd outright invade a NATO country. Just that he could find ways to make inroads in and combine that with similar threats. I appreciate it's unknowable though, and clearly hope that you're right! It's a very difficult situation right now as it's hard to 'bargain' with someone engaging in this level of destruction.Sanctions and arming Ukraine is maybe as far as we can go, and also precisely what we should be doing. Russia is paying a larger toll on all fronts that Putin likely saw coming. We are where we are and doing nothing isn't an option.

There is absolutely nothing stopping you from joining a civilian unit, people have taken up arms....indeed, I'm hearing some have been forced to.
