I am no expert but if the RA camp decide to contest the legality of sanctioning him it could probably sit in a kind of stalemate situation for a while which for the club is probably one of the worst outcomes.

If it’s just over the football club it’ll prove his promise statement was bollox, although net proceeds could’ve ended up being a lot less than the whole thing being confiscated as it is now.

I dare to suggest they thoroughly enjoy the status of being universally regarded as ignorant w***ers.

A slightly random comment, but one of my best mates at school was a Chelsea fan and a genuinely nice bloke. As we grew into our teens he did for a short period turn into a bit of a c u next tuesday and I (with others) had to reign him in. Was a Chelsea fan as his Dad was and I think he started trying to emulate him. His Dad was notoriously known for being a pr!ck amongst just about everyone I ever spoke to.

Love that story!

With such apparent widespread condemnation of the Ukraine invasion among the average population & RA now being sanctioned in recognition of his alleged supporting of the invasion I wonder how many Chelsea season ticket holders will boycott games whilst sanctions / the existing ownership remains in place.

If he had remained in control of the club / the sale of the club the accountants could have made all kinds of representations that various charges against the accounts were excluded from any sales proceeds promise, in other words make sure that he got as much of his own money out of it before anyone else got the rest.

Probably not as many as those who support him judging by the singing in the last few games.

RA and Putin a closely linked in business.
RA currently owns a frozen asset, Chelsea.
According to our government they may consider giving a special license to sell that asset and presumably unfreeze it so long as RA receives none of the proceeds. The alternative which probably has not been considered is that RA does nothing follows the special license imposed on his frozen asset and watches Chelsea go under. That will leave him with an empty Stamford Bridge, frozen other than the rats and pigeons building up in it.
The World Champions will have gone, champions league Champions etc etc.
Imagine the disruption for football in Europe and here. Massive.
Now we all know who likes disruption. Just look at Ukraine.
Why would they give away Chelsea just to keep it sweet for us.
Far more likely closure.
Then what ? Ground seizure eventually for non payment of council tax and someone can secure a fantastic site in west london for re development or maybe planning will insist it must remain as a sports facility in which case someone could start a football club
Candy land United springs to mind in the southern league.

Sorry for Abramovic due to the hypocrisy but happy Chelski going to collapse. Chelsea never deserved their success.

Big up the Palace!!!!

There is absolutely no way the government would let a club of Chelsea’s stature go out businesses. They pay millions in taxes and employ hundreds of people, stewards, shop assistants, hotel staff, security, admin, etc, etc. Anyway they have frozen Abrahamovic’s assets not confiscated them. The government can’t sell his assets and he may now decide not to sell but run the club but run it into the ground. Who knows what the future holds but it is a sad state of affairs when the government can sanctions assets of a private citizen without due process. Whatever Roman has done in Russia is no concern of the British government because they said he was a fit and proper person to buy the club in 2003. By the same yardstick are we going to grab Newcastle United if at some future date we fall out with the despicable Saudis.

Can you imagine the furore if Chelsea were given special treatment when other clubs have to face their insolvency issues with points deductions, other penalties and, in Bury's case (and almost ours), extinction. Imagine the thoughts of a Derby fan if Chelsea got it easy, especially given how they have come to this, just because they are big and have some important fans?

If it is primary legislation, he cannot contest through the courts unless he can identify some procedural irregularity. He will have 3 months from any decision to apply to the court for permission to proceed and that will probably not be granted.

I suspect he has looked at this and his lawyers have told him to pay the two dollars.
