I agree with Reg Paddick. It's not a bizarre thread, it's mostly just light hearted banter (garnished with some questionable opinions) on a remarkable kick of the ball by a very remarkable player.

A bizarre thread would be the case for a flat earth or one which includes advocates of Putin's war.

Hang on, we have one of them. Head along to News and Politics.

I look forward to the day when Olise teases the ball between ground and boot in such a manner that the ball initially flies forward but then spins back, bamboozling the oncoming keeper. Imagine, for example, a Spitfire doing a loop the loop...

He must have been gutted it didn't go in if he meant it.

I didn't even pay attention at the time. It was like "oh something weird happened, oh it's 4-0, that's nice and Wilf deserves his goal".

But looking at a video multiple times, it looks as if he meant it and had it gone in it would have been an iconic goal.

As it was, it will be in most people's minds (if at all) as a bit of a weird goal. Which is a shame.

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

I've now watched this bloody kick 20 times, including the angle from Access All Over and the definitive answer is that none of us know. I certainly don't, none of us do. But just think about the corner which preceded our first goal ... it wasn't floated in, it was delived with inswing and top spin at pace, vicious and dipping.
Obviously this boy has that ability and the two shots at Millwall are further evidence. Next time he does it perhaps we'll have the good grace to realise we have something special here, for short time that one imagines we'll be able to keep him.

I am genuinely staggered to understand how people think this was intentional, and not some freak miss hit.

But it also doesn’t mean that we are doubting his ability, he’s a superstar in the making. We played well enough to deserve a slice of luck.

Yup that's my feeling he was going for the top corner and we got lucky with the rebound.

Watching it back, I think it was deliberate.

We’ll fairly soon find out as if it was deliberate, he will try it again soon (or maybe he already did earlier in the same game, as another poster said)

Can we agree it was a deliberate effort on goal? A bicycle kick is a goal attempt, but you can't see the location of the keeper on the line and hope it goes in.

Still looks great.

I remember Mark Bright scoring a Hoddle at Plymouth and then spoiling it by admitting it was a cross.

Olise is a brilliant player but he is trying to curl it in the top corner.

Still, I absolutely loved it as many had turned away moaning when Wilf smashed it in.

3-0 makes it comprehensive………4 was simply taking the p1ss

Why is everyone so detetmined to view it like a pub team playing over the rec? According to Lampard all our goals were lucky and apparently 'it was never a 4 nil game'. Well look in the paper Frank, it certainly was 4 nil and you were lucky to get nil to be honest.
