Yes we are doing well and by all accounts will develop still further . However let us not lose sight of the fact that in general your success in the league is directly proportional to the wealth of the owners. As it stands top 10 is our level without the extra wealth input as any top six quality players we produce will be poached by the top six. As it stands there is not much we can do about it without the wealth input. It will be interesting to see how Newcastle develop as the latest to inherit new funds.COYP.

Top 6 is a reach but doable if you look at it as a high-water mark of a generational team. If you had said it has been an amazingly entertaining season I wouldn't quarrel at all! Pretty much all the Olise and Mitchell stories are just one story regurgitated by other outlets. Personally doubt anyone will be in for Olise this time around anyway. A youthful wide player is exactly what Arsenal are not looking for - they have trouble fitting in the 3 they have already. He's also at that stage where he's unlikely to go anywhere he isn't going to get football. Much the same applies to the Mitchell story. He's an increasingly tidy player but would be second choice at any club that outranked us in the market. The time may come for both of them - and Guehi and Eze - a year or so down the line but having trawled other clubs forums there are very very few references to them right now.

We've done okay. Relegation avoidance is the first priority but in truth you need to go back quite a time to find a time when that was a sustained threat through the season. The football has been much more enjoyable. The squad looks better. We've made a cup semi on a very easy run. Does that add up to great? Really? More fun this time as I said. Great it isn't. I'm not really part of the "it's time we made the next step" brigade - too old for that - but I do think there is potential for a probably temporary step up. It's underselling the club to think that this season is anything special.

So easy to get carried away. Thus far it has been an enjoyable season. I've been going to matches expecting to be entertained and to see us score goals and most games both expectations have been met. It has been great to see players visibly developing and improving as the season has progressed. The future is looking brighter than it has for a while. BUT 1. We have relied heavily on a loanee who will almost certainly NOT be with us next season. 2. We have been very fortunate this season on the injury front. The only injury that saw our form and performances dip for a while was McArthur's but we have got over that with a rejuvenated post Afcon Kouyate and some good performances by Schlupp. We may not be so lucky next year (Think Leeds). 3. We don't know what the summer window will bring in way of arrivals and possibly more importantly, departures. Let's just enjoy what we have whilst we have it and if we should end up being a top 10 team in the next few seasons then we can talk about having a great period

We have an AFCON winner who's already lifted a major trophy bigger than the FA Cup this year. We've beaten Man City at the Etihad. Whoever we've beaten to get there, we're at Wembley. We are bang in form right now. We are in the semi-final because we're one of the best four teams in the tournament. I agree, we should be realistic but that doesn't mean we can't be positive and optimistic. We probably have a one in ten chance of beating the other three teams in the tournament on any given day. Self belief maybe increases that to two in ten. Let's believe and go for it. Let's all stop thinking we're not as good as we are. I completely agree. I've been saying for some time now, fans that keep talking about the possibility of relegation and totting up how many points we have/how many more we need, etc have a small club mentality. Thanks partly to Roy for putting solid foundations in place and now Patrick and the owners for being brave and ambitious with our signings and our style of play we have been nowhere near the relegation zone. Even when we were on a bad winless run a month or so ago.

Personally I’m not worried about a single player or two leaving, provided we get the right fee for them. Gallagher will be a miss, but we have known it was very unlikely he would stay with us since we first signed him. I’m not sure who the replacement will be, but I’m sure we will move to address it in the summer whether it is a new formation, a new position for an existing player (Eze), a promotion from youth or signing someone externally. My main concern is losing Viera. I feel he will be increasingly in demand and the big boys will come calling. The best we can do is make sure we get some decent compensation and have a couple of good replacements lined up. I’m enjoying PV while we have him!

Yes, i agree, we where lucky that Lampard, Favre and Nino didn't get the job, Forth pick was best, you need a bit luck, i do think a famously named player attracts the players, so if PV does go i think we should go down a similar route
