A trivia question for those in the know…

When England play Ivory Coast, if Zaha, Gallagher, Mitchell and Guehi all play- would this be the most number of international players we have ever had on the pitch at the same time?

I have no idea, but would be great to see this happen!

Could be, I think even in the early 90’s when we had a few in the England squad I doubt we had 4 on the pitch at the same time, especially after Wrighty left and Andy Gray only got the one cap v Poland

Only 3, but I went to Kenny Sansom’s England debut v Wales at Wembley in 1979 and I think Peter Nicholas and Ian Walsh were in the welsh team.

Terry Boyle was in the welsh squad might not have all been on the pitch at the same time

Good shout though, I’ll have to look into this, maybe Steve Lovell as well??

I’ve just googled it, none of Walsh, Nicholas Boyle or Lovell played, so I’ve dropped a bollock there, I knew sansom played because I was proud to be at his debut.

It's a good question Vince, but you are of course counting Gallagher as our player, which might cause arguments if your question is ever used in a pub quiz!

Yep, totally agree / and this could open the door to that ‘grey’ unknown area….

Some would say that technically- at the present time, he applies his trade at Palace. So he is an eagle. However, the purists may debate this and say he is employed by Chelsea, but we are ‘borrowing’ him.

I have no idea….

Mitchell vs Zaha would be good to see!

Anyone else think Tyrick would have wilf in his pocket!? Ha.

I did wonder how they get on against each other in training. Will it be the same on the pitch, assuming Wilf plays on the right, who knows? Something tells me Wilf's usually on the left for Ivory Coast so presumably won't happen anyway.

As long as they don’t clatter into each other and end up injured A bit like when team mates take each other out in Formula one!!

We had four players in an Under-23 game at Swindon Town's stadium with The Team of the 80s.
