I’d like to finish enjoying this season before we enter the silly season of guessing who’s coming and going. But I will say one thing, as long as we finally get shot of Benteke I’ll be happy, without doubt the laziest footballer I’ve ever seen and he’s been shown up by the graft of Mateta Made in Bromley

Forgot Luke Plange from the squad. Banks & Rak-Sakyi really depends on how they perform in Pre-Season. I cannot see McArthur, Tomkins leaving, and Clyne will be kept on if Ferguson breaks down again and/or fail to secure a new RB. Trying to offload Benteke, Jairo and Luka is all well and good but need to find a buyer as they in contract.

Forgot Luke Plange from the squad.

Banks & Rak-Sakyi really depends on how they perform in Pre-Season.

I cannot see McArthur, Tomkins leaving, and Clyne will be kept on if Ferguson breaks down again and/or fail to secure a new RB.

Trying to offload Benteke, Jairo and Luka is all well and good but need to find a buyer as they in contract.

you might have to cut your cost and let the go for free, and pay them off, Luka will get 4.2m in wages, Benteke 6m, if they are not playing and you give them 2m each to leave you save yourselves 6m, its business sense. thats how it happens

If you want to get rid of them early you will probably have to pay off their contracts in full.

If they stay (as is the more likely) Benteke and Luka will continue to get reasonably regular game time off the bench and even Jairo will get some game time.

Benteke is still being picked for the Belgian squad (came on as a late sub today). Luka's international career is over and Jairo is unlikely to have one unless he markedly improves his performances.

I tend to agree, they have guaranteed wages that will not be matched anywhere else. I suspect they will just sit it out for a year. Our only real hope would be that they get offered a decent (length) contract somewhere that they might not get in another years time. Benteke especially, 31 now, so only got one more contract in him.

I get the impression that Luka is proud enough to move on.

But I wouldn't be surprised if Benteke just sits is out.

At the end of the day its a job, and a very well paid one. And lots more money then they will get elsewhere. In normal life you wouldn't move, just take the money and go through the motions.

You're right. Benteke will happily sit it out. The guy cares more about money than playing regular football. He knows if he moves on he will have to take a pay cut, unless he can get one last payday in the middle east. Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

You're right. Benteke will happily sit it out. The guy cares more about money than playing regular football. He knows if he moves on he will have to take a pay cut, unless he can get one last payday in the middle east.

We don't have a full 25 this season and with 7 contracts expiring in the summer and Gallagher almost certainly returning to Chelsea, we may struggle to reach 25 next season (although Guehi and Ferguson were 21 before the deadline so will count next year). Much depends on how many of the expiring contracts are renewed and how many new players over 21 come in).

Why would they want to leave, both their families are settled here, they are getting paid far more than they are currently going to get anywhere else. Any ambition they had , would of been years ago. If someone offered you £5m to do not a lot, would you accept half that amount to leave?
