I think you're right. There used to be something of a mystique and distance between the real world and Hollywood. Figures of fascination and elegance that you could never really get close to.

Nowadays of course, in part due to the platforms used, consumption of media and 'like' culture, it all looks a bit desperate. They're battling away to remain on top of the pile in the same way that desperate tik tokers are praying their next clip goes viral. People are too accessible if anything, and all that differentiates the rich and famous from the poor is that the former are out of touch and often able act without consequence.

Social media has played its part, before it there was much more mystery and less knowledge and involvement with the entertainment elites. But since Andy Warhol's 15 minutes became reality the mainstream's grip on Joe Public's attention has loosened....by the time my generation...generation X dies out that grip may be gone completely. Just one of the reasons they want to ban everything alternative.

Whole books could be written on it....you could write one perhaps...I've got too much poorn to watch.

Whether it's funny or offensive is entirely subjective. That's the point. A joke we don't personally like isn't an 'in' to physically attack the comedian on stage.

You have again completely forgotten your own view and have conjured up a new one. You said "I'm not condoning the slap to the face (I'd have done worse)". So you stated that at minimum you would have punched Chris Rock in the face for a joke about hair. AKA violence.

You dislike people highlighting contradictions in posts made today, so of course the hilarity of saying that you don't like a comedian (solely because it completely goes against your current point) when you've previously posted an entire hour long routine of theirs in a 'Comedy Greats' thread escapes you. The "and said they were not great" is completely made up just now to prop up a laughable claim. It didn't happen. You're either intentionally making stuff up or a fantasist, as this behaviour is on repeat.

What's the point? I don't care what comedians you like, it's just nice when someone claims to hold a view, that they either actually do so that it can be argued against, or that it makes sense in relation to their other opinions. It makes zero sense for you to be suddenly indignant about this comedian's act (when it's tamer than those you very clearly enjoy) or to suggest that violence is an acceptable reaction to it (but not others).

Your ephemeral arguments are designed to annoy rather than discuss. To most, assaulting a comedian on stage for making a joke (aka his job) is ridiculous behaviour that there is no excuse for whatsoever. If Will Smith wants to assault comedians for making jokes, he'll now have countless opportunities to do so over the coming months and years. With this joke getting that reaction, God help him unless he wises up. I'll end this back and forth on that note.

What part of that don't you understand?
What I would have done is not known, but you say that I "stated that at minimum (I) would have punched Chris Rock in the face". That is a lie. But whatever I would have done, I would have regretted. Much like Smith.

I bothered to find the post on 'Great stand up comedy', and guess what?, I made no mention of being a fan, or liking any of those linked acts, and said that the OP probably wouldn't like them either. [Link]
So again you have lied.

But you know this. Which is why you have now said that you will no longer reply. Like you do every time you get caught out lying.

Sweet Jesus.

You posted three comedians in a 'Comedy Greats' thread. It's perfectly reasonable to state that's because you personally like them rather than think they're all sh!te. You saying that the OP (who has different comedic taste) wouldn't, only means that his taste in comedy is different to yours. Which it clearly is. These comics are all crass types, which was my point since you're now so affronted by a comedian making a tame joke about hair that you go on record as saying you'd physically assault him (aka 'I'd have done worse' than a slap. Denials of the meaning are pointless). You know the above to be true hence threw in a false claim that you stated "they were not great" in said thread. Like much your other claims, that is not the case.

All of the above is fact. Much like the vaccine stuff, it's 'world view whack-a-mole' with you based on having a dig rather than holding a genuine view, with apparent 'convictions' and clear past perspectives being denied or flipped on their head whenever it contradicts whatever today's 'deeply felt' stance is. Sometimes almost immediately after you've stated something. Please trouble someone else with this disingenuous behaviour. Bye now.

Weird to see it from a different perspective.. [Link]

Strange how she doesn't even look at her husband at any point. Hopefully, going forward, Smith will find a better way to resolve whatever is going on in his life and thinking.

This is all too far off topic really, but as you brought up this subject I'm going to defend myself. It isn't "perfectly reasonable to state that's because (I) personally like them" just because I had posted them, unless I stated that. You made that assumtion. But now in your mind that is a fact. I have never stated, in my life, that I like any of those stand-ups. This is really like trying to teach algebra to a chimpanzee. You just don't understand.

As much as I may disagree with some around here, at least most have stances that can be argued against. Yours evaporate when they come into contact with contrasting views or require consistency of view on your part. Let's end this exchange. It's all time we won't be getting back.
