How about no one can sub in the last 5 minutes? That will really throw a cat amongst the pigeons. Personally I think subs should only be for injuries as was originally intended. But now you can put on nearly half a new team which kills the spirit of the game for me.

I'm not sure modern footballers and managers could be trusted to only sub when injured.

I mean... look at this....

Interesting, eliminating all the forms of gamesmanship in the game is becoming a major problem, I'm sure ref stress levels have never been higher.

Am I alone in believing these shenanigans to be cheating in disguise?

Football was far more honest when the bloke with a bucket of ice cold water and a sponge came on to revive an injured player. Players used to be back on their feet in no time.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Yet another change to the game that wasn't subject to even the slightest consultation with supporters.

Add it to VAR, kick-off times, the extent of TV coverage, which channels or platforms get to have the football, how much they get to charge to see it, wildly selective support/ignorance of various social and political issues, the use of squad numbers, constant f***ing about with (and borderline-maniacal forensic approach to) the offside and handball rules, the blind acceptance of anyone with money (and some who just pretend to have it) to be a fit and proper football club owner, the increasing fascination with pyrotechnics and deafening PA systems that drown out any attempt by supporters to build an actual atmosphere before a game, the concept that a fair tackle can somehow use 'unnecessary force', ticket prices....

Well, we could be here for a while, couldn't we?

The clubs are private companies, the league is a private entity comprised of the clubs. We are but the punters, who can either take it or leave it.

They will do whatever the f*** they please.

Difficult to argue with anything you say here BTP.
