Great keep posting folks, I don't want people to have a bad experience so very happy if Heathrow have got their act together.

Agreed.

What they didn’t mention regarding Security and Check in staff, was the awful shifts. They start at 3am, so have to drive and then many, are charged to park.

Flying with Ryan Air is a bit of a covid nightmare. I needed a covid test (within 24 hours of travel), vaccinate certificate and EU passenger locator form. Clearly this is location dependent, but still. You can upload the in the app. On the way out it was fine, but on the way back they demanded to actually see them.. You can't even view the pdfs once you upload to Ryan Air, but luckily I had them downloaded locally too so it was A-OK. A big faff and stress though and I can understand some being daunted or perplexed by the whole thing.

It now varies considerably depending on where you’re going. Check and check again. You’re right the link doesn’t work the next day. Have to download, then email docs to yourself. Being old I always have a printed copy as well.

I have friends who recently travelled to Spain on a TUI flight.
Both of them have had the booster jab.
They only had to complete a Spanish locator form and this was checked on departure from the UK.
The Spanish form was checked on arrival in Spain.
No more requirement to complete UK locator form.
No more requirement to test on arrival back into the UK.
They found the whole process stress free.

There might of course be other requirements for different destinations but the fact remains that at present the UK locator form is no longer required nor testing on arrival back into the UK.
I would advise those to check before departure as rules can of course change.

Correct. You need nothing flying home if you’re vaccinated. Going out just depends on destination rules.

We went to Porto the day after the last big storm, so as expected there was a lot of delay (3 hours extra in t5) and disruption.

What we didn't bank on was both mine and my sons luggage being lost on arrival.

We also didn't bank on our return flight being cancelled on the afternoon of departure.

And we certainly didn't bank on our rescheduled return flight option to be 3 days later.

I have heard of people who months ago had to have a PCR test abroad within 48 hrs of departure back to the UK.If they had proved 'Positive' they would have had to isolate abroad with all the cost that would have incurred.

On arrival back into the UK there has been a combination of PCR test within 48 hrs of arrival, PCR test within 48 hrs and having to isolate until a 'Negative' result, Lateral Flow test within 48 hrs which one could carry out at home before taking a photo of the result and forwarding it to the supplier.

Much more straight-forward at present !

I don't want any sympathy as I realise that back in November we were lucky being on the first flight from Heathrow to Orlando for a year and a half...but our experiences were pretty awful at T5 too.
Firstly, the BA website clearly indicated that paper proof of vaccinations and Covid tests were acceptable and yet at the airport BA staff were insisting on people using the Verify app; long queues of befuddled technophobes requiring assistance to do so.
Secondly, BA constantly directed passengers to the relevant immigration pages of the destination country on their website. The US site allowed a degree of flexibility due to potential delays but BA's policy was stricter, which we didn't find out until at check in. Consequently our Covid tests were two hours outside of the BA acceptance but within the destination country's requirements. At this point I was about to smack the BA bloke but he relented and let us through. Going through US immigration was a breeze.
Two days before flying back, BA confirmed our flight details and at this point we realised that having flown out from Heathrow we were flying back to Gatwick. Now at this point I should say that we originally booked to fly to Orlando on 7th November but Uncle Joe Biden said we couldn't fly until 15th November, hence a panic to change the flights. Living south of Gatwick, we were pissed off that we had to fly from Heathrow because BA were not operating from Gatwick, but when we changed the flights, miraculously BA were operating from there by the time we were returning; I just picked the cheapest return slot, not realising the Gatwick reinstatement. So we were returning to our local airport...but my car was at Heathrow!
Had a great time in Florida, but jeez it weren't an easy journey experience!

hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing.
