The reason I ask is that I am interested to find out how they think they can get away with this ;

Last Monday, before the Arsenal game, I caught the 19.30 train from East Croydon to Selhurst. Along with many other people going to the match.

Instead of stopping at Selhurst, the train accelerated and didn't stop until Clapham Junction. There were no announcements either before the train set off or during the journey.

I immediately sent Southern a Tweet. They responded that they had checked with their Control Room and the train was recorded as having stopped at Selhurst !

I followed that up with an online complaint the next morning. I received a prompt reply apologising for the delay to the train ( it wasn't delayed ! ) - which totally failed to address the issue.

Southern are clearly falsifying their records - so is this standard practise ?

It's a manipulation of data. Otherwise termed "statistics".

I would term it fraudulent. It seems to be common practice in a lot of big companies

There must be a train ombudsman for complaints ?

That’s a disgrace!! Although it doesn’t surprise me, I use south eastern and they’re a pile of s*** now. With a train full of football fans they were lucky the train wasnt smashed up, not condoning it, but you could’ve understood it out of frustration

I have a family member who works for this company and they have advised if it is true what you are stating you are entitled to compensation.

You can contact the company many ways try by phone.

If they claim the stop was not missed you can ask for the evidence of this under freedom of information act if they refuse over the phone you will need to do it in writing.

It is all very time consuming which is what they want so people do not bother.

What doesn't help is a lot of these operators are govt funded now so they believe they are untouchable.

I would like to say they can't manipulate the data for the train if it missed the stop or not the only misleading part is the person who is claiming the data shows something.

The systems used log everything.

Worst train company ever. Never have journey that goes to plan. Commonly cancel end destination mid journey, I try and avoid
