I don't have any facts however this is my understanding from reading the press. This year it appears that Albanian criminal gangs have realised how easy it is to cross the channel and not get deported so they have piled on and are actively recruiting from their own country.

You could well be right and looking at M.o.D figures that go up to June there is an increase in the number of Albanians getting stopped trying to cross the channels , [Link] on table IRR_02b, more Albanians were stopped trying to cross the channel then any other nationality but still only 17% and still 62% of people being stopped making the crossing come from Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Syria, Eritrea and Sudan.
The figures run to June, and it could be that through July and August and 60% of people stopped may be Albanian. That would still represent a very big step up in in the number of Albanians. The phrases ‘figures fluctuate’ and ‘crossing now’ add a lot of ambiguity and can lead to misinterpretation of the where people being stopped crossing the channel come from and that is my main point. At best it should read ‘Government officials believe in the last two months around 60% of migrants making Channel crossings each day now are Albanian, although figures fluctuate’.I think they have used a time period that best fits their narrative and the launch of the policy

Think this has been misreported , I’m not a cynical man so I ‘ll assume it was a genuine mistake by The home office press team and SKY , I got this from SKY [Link] ‘Government officials believe around 60% of migrants making Channel crossings each day now are Albanian, although figures fluctuate’.
The terms Believe and figure fluctuate are doing a lot of work here because the Home office own figures say there is nowhere near that and the actual number between 2018 and Mar 2022 is about 3% [Link] .

There are potential issues,
1) The figure reported is boats that have been stopped and it could be far more Albanians are getting through then everyone else. It is possible but to make the 60% figure work 20 Albanians would be getting through for every Albanian stopped and the home office we need to have a 100% record of stopping everyone nation. Unlikely and if it is happening don’t send the Albanians back get them into our navy the lads are geniuses.
2) When the say ‘Government officials believe around 60% of migrants making Channel crossings each day now are Albanian’ they actually mean from Apr to now, it’s possible but again unlikely that it should have changed significantly in the last few months but we can come back when the figures are updated.
3) The most likely explanation is what they actually should say is that ‘Government officials believe around 60% of migrants who have no legitimate asylum claim making Channel crossings each day now are Albanian’ and through lazy journalism and political motivated briefing they ignore the fact
If the third point is right, and I think it is the most likely, then the tie up with Albanian is good and Home office can weed out Albanians early and speed up the process for legitimate asylum claims. However the majority of people stopped crossing the channel are legitimate asylum seekers they are from either war torn areas or oppressive regimes, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Syria and Eritrea, in figure 3 if you are interested.
90% are men and 50% are under 25.

I have just heard about this Albania plan. Personally I think it is a good idea, in theory, but in practice it will be blocked by HR for this reason:
When a person claims asylum here, they have to be interviewed and their claim considered. You cannot contact their Embassy/Government until a decision taken ( in case they are genuine and could put their families in danger), therefore if they are met by Albanian Government Officials before being able to state their claim, the HR lawyers will be all over it.
Would be nice for the French to follow suit, if they are really interested in stopping this ( )
Just heard a female broadcaster who was claiming that it is legal to cross the channel, undocumented. Why? because the Albanian live in poverty and know they can find work in the UK. Economic migrants then! Oh and they leave wives and children behind, living in poverty!,

How can they be 'legitimate' when they are leaving a 'safe' country (having also crossed several others) where they could have/should have claimed asylum, in accordance with international rules - admittedly with far less in the way of benefits and handouts...

I’ll make no judgement on the right and wrongs that is not the point I’m making but the UN states Asylum seekers have no obligation to make a claim in the first safe country they get to, [Link]

It's a shame that they don't join the barristers on strike but obviously they are well paid by somebody

The weird thing about Albanians is that they are, on the whole, incredibly pro-British. Sure, there are a % of criminals but apparently rather good at it. Reliable, keep things nice and quiet, try not to make to much of a mess because they want to make money rather than play at gangsters. You could make an argument that if you are going to tolerate a certain level of organised crime then if your home-grown villains are not up to it (and British criminals do not have a good reputation in the wider global underworld - apparently amongst the most treacherous going. ) then you could do worse than having the Albanians running it. Yes, will all go tits up eventually but such is the Darwinian nature of such enterprises.

Of course, this all needs to be taken with a huge pinch of salt but if you accept that we need more family types of people in the UK, you can do worse than Albanians.

And if they are going to risk a channel crossing then it shows a certain level of chutzpah.

Of course, we need to start shipping them off to Rwanda ASAP but I cannot but help admire the tenacity. All the Albanians I know are a pretty solid bunch. Strong work ethic as well. I like them.

So you are saying that "these criminals are more honourable & noble than those criminals" ? I feel sorry for you. Along with whatever idiot started the cult worship of the Krays. Psychopaths are just that, no more.

LOL. In my case that could not be further from the truth, especially about the Krays given the divisions in my wider-extended family caused by them (on my mum's side, her immediate family sided with Jewish friends who were being effectively bullied by the Krays as they owned a small business and refused to pay protection money - this notion that everybody in the East End some how 'loved' them is at complete odds with my lived reality).

If I had my way, organised crime would be destroyed but we live in a world in which it seems to be tolerated by those in charge, not least because of the UK's banking system which is effectively the worlds biggest money laundering operation. And as I did stress, my post needed to be taken with a huge pinch of salt.

But my wider point remains. I like Albanians. Much in the same way that I have always liked Turks. A civilisation enemy then yes, and I dream of the day Constantinople is liberated, but always got on well with Turkish acquaintances. Hot-tempered in many cases but generous to a fault, big on family and plain good company. My kind of people.

Such are the contradictions and complexities of trying to navigate a Dissident Right out-look which is why I aim almost all my ire at the Progressive Left. I f***ing loathe them with, I believe, the ultimate irony being that if the Left just kept their mouths shut, most of us would just learn to rub along with each other. But they wont, and they cheer on the demise of everything I value in life so the battle continues.

Such is life.

My experience of many Albanians that they are “up to all sorts” but, of course, they are not alone there. What really struck me was how they had total respect for their elders. Most elderly Albanians do not speak English and when they needed to be interviewed there was many younger ones willing to help. That help then extended to assisting them with baggage etc.
With regard to the Channel crossers, yes something must be done. As stated previously I suspect many of the traffickers are, themselves, Albanian
