Fair comment, Nicholas91. I think his best moments have been when he cuts in from the left. I think he has decent close control and an eye for goal. I'm not convinced he has what it takes to play in the centre and, currently, I think JPM looks better in that role.

No I do get your comment, my thinking was geared more towards I would suggest we bought him as a striker, not as a winger and were we looking to invest in a winger we'd of gone for a different player. I'm not discounting the possibility of being completely wrong here although I'd of thought we already had Zaha way beyond nailed in for that spot for the time being and if looking for one, we'd have gone for a verified left winger, not for someone plying their trade as a forward in Scotland... does that make sense? I lose track of my own thoughts sometimes!

May also just be my own knowledge failing me here too, but I very much saw the summer recruitment as Wilf, Edouard, Benteke or Mateta and Olise starting up front. Granted, Edouard may have been bought as a bit more of a utility forward player for the sake of options in which case I'd argue we are still looking for that nailed on, first name on the team sheet forward. Agree Mateta looks the better option of what we currently have.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I agree with your point that if we wanted a winger we should have bought a winger.

Yes, Mateta and Edouard could maybe function as a two up top. Trouble is, PV hasn't favoured that system yet.

I do think a flexible horses for courses approach would be a sign of growing maturity and confidence. People criticised PV for changing the formula on Sunday but it worked, up to a point, in the first half and, fine margins, if Kouyate's shot had gone in instead of hitting the post... Teams should be able to play more than one system.

For whatever reason Edouard hasn't quite clicked yet but he is young and I personally think he will come good.

Clearly PV doesn’t rate him.

But where does he play in that side. Olise came on for Ayew and did well. Benteke came on for JP and also did well. He isn’t going to displace Wilf.
His best performances have been when Wilf was at Afcon playing on the left. He needs to be patient. He will get opportunities going forward and will need to take them.

OE is always on the bench, so you think, "If he could only get into a match, he could do something." Then he gets into a match and does nothing. Every time.

In my opinion, it was good to take a chance on him, but it hasn't worked out, so time to move on. There's nothing worse than sticking with a failed striker for years, like Wickham or Benteke.

I agree with that when they had a chance of being on the pitch at the sametime they look comfortable with each other and work well together , but im old school love the idea of 2 strikers 2 wingers
