I hope after the disappointment against Chelsea we don't forget our league position.

Brighton, Brentford and Southampton have pushed us down the table and Newcastle will do so as well if we fail against them on Wednesday.

That'll be a tough one, one rejuvenated side at home against semi-final losers.

PV must use all his motivational skills to get the team rocking again, back to winning ways and back up the table.

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.

Before we’d even got out of the ground yesterday I said I hope we don’t let the season Peter out now. A nice strong finish with 9th up for grabs and it’ll be a great season

back to business....

- Finish above Brighton in the Table

- prepare well for next August.

Both tasks are eminently achievable.

Eze Peasy at Anfield....

I agree, i think these 7 games are all winnable, i will be disappointed if we don't at least finish in the top ten

Parish gave an interview before the match and alluded to plans now being made for the summer.
There will be a few more outgoings and hopefully we can repeat the success of last summer's window.
Midfield is a priority with Gallagher's departure and Mcarthu's age and unjury record.

I’m not going to get my hopes up but if the reality does align to these sentiments it’s very exciting for this Palace fan I send I wouldn’t but I’ll allow myself the odd moment… COYP!!!!!

In a strange way the Newcastle game coming so soon might not be a bad thing as it doesn't allow the players to wallow in defeat, plus we have options waiting in the wings in Hughes, Edouard, Clyne, etc. I've been really happy with what Vieira has achieved and I hope we finish the season on a high, then in the summer say a fond farewell to players such as Bentenke and Luka who are no longer at the races. Another good summer of recruitment and who's to say where we can go. I just hope the disappointment of the cup result doesn't sour what has been a great season.

I am old enough to remember the 1975-76 season when we went to the semi-final and lost to Southampton. Our remaining seven games yielded 3 defeats, 3 draws and a solitary win.

I hope PV and the players can pick themselves up after yesterday's defeat and do better than 46 years ago!

If my ageing memory serves me well, we lost our next league game, a few days after the Southampton game.
Let us hope that history does not repeat itself against Newcastle who have won their last 5 home games.

That is true. We ended up 5th in the old Third Division (For those who are younger, it is now called League One)

The following season, however, saw us end up in 3rd place and were promoted.

So, looking at it from the other side of the coin, is we don't win again this season, the omens might be on our side and next season could be a belter.

Bit of an optimist, me

I reckon we'll finish on 46 points.
