Didn't know you were married to an Eastern European.

I think you'll find AS, that Wales isn't in Eastern Europe.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

There was a trend about 20 years ago for rugby players to wear fingerless gloves - full gloves aren't allowed; supposedly because of the risk of finger dislocation but some players have worn them.

I used too, all the time, as they used to have built in grip for delicate hands such as my own which couldn't quite grasp the entire ball with one mit! Also, was a bit nippy out there occasionally

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I'm not bothered if they wear gloves except when they have a short sleeve shirt when it seems daft.
Remember the fuss when Keith Weller wore what were called tights at the time? Looked silly was was sensible for an aging player.

Statistically, they can't all suffer from Raynaud's phenomenon. So, that leaves just the "pansies" answer as having any merit. Or some other, weird (equally girly) possibility that they don't like getting their hands dirty or might break a finger nail?

Superstition is certainly the reason for a couple. Presumably some players have glove supplier contracts/ sponsors.

As someone who suffers from acute Raynaud’s I know only too well how painful and uncomfortable cold fingers can be. I wear gloves for about 75% of the year. If your hands are cold you are not 100% focused on the job in hand. That’s why elite sports personal wear gloves ie athletes, marathon runners etc.

Having said that I’m sure some players do it as a superstition or a fashion statement.
