Not myself quite yet, but my Mother is turning 65 in November. She doesn't have a lot of money and was quite looking forward to her discounted rate at her beloved Palace.

I've just called the Box Office and been told that no she cannot have the Senior price for the upcoming season, as she will still be 64 for 2 months after start of the season.

I asked about pro-rata and they didn't want to know.

If that is the rule then fine, but I wondered if anyone else had experience with this? Only because I don't take the word of someone in the Box Office who probably didn't want to read through T&Cs or check with Management that nothing could be done.

I can see there has to be a cutoff somewhere and obviously if she turned 65 in April then no chance but seems a bit ridiculous when she'll be over the age for 75% of the season.

Afraid you just have to suck it up, I turned 66 2 months after season tickets went on sale and had to do another full year before I could get the concession rate.

If you think that’s bad luck my birthday is the day after the day the government selected when the pension age went up to 66, so had to do another 364 days before I could claim my state pension the next year. If only my dear old mum had dropped me out 6 hours earlier.

they screwed me as well.. there is a new commercial manager who has put a very strict set of rules in place and if you are unlucky enough to be born in the wrong month, or need anything out of the ordinary, then its tough...

In fairness he did have the decency to call me and explain all this after I complained about about not being able to renew my sons ST on earlybird as he is off to Uni so I wanted to switch in my younger son..

its only £60 difference but it leaves a sour taste....

4 playoff finals, Claridge, Hopkin, Shipperley, Phillips....

I had this last season; as my dad turned 66 on August 5th so before he would even get to see a match. Took several very strongly worded emails before they reluctantly agreed to reduce the price.

This is correct. My birthday is on 30 July and cut off date was 1 August so had to pay adult rate. TBF there has to be a cut off date

It does actually say in the Season Ticket Terms and Conditions that in order to qualify for a Senior ticket, you have to be 65 or over on 1st August 2022 ie 6 days before the season actually starts! This is of interest to me because my birthday is on 12 September and I will be 65 next year and sadly this means I won't qualify for a Senior ticket until 2024.

I think the way in which the club is being run now is much less fan friendly than a few years ago - two examples of this are the way in which digital season tickets were introduced three matches into the season with only two days warning and without any consultation and the way fans are going to have to pay an additional £50 to buy a Season Ticket+ next season in order to be able to share their season tickets - and I am sure there are other examples as well.

I don’t think that this is that new. It happened to me 3 years ago and as someone else said there does have to be a cut off date. It has happened regularly throughout my life with a birthday at this time of year in terms of school years, age group sports teams, swimming events as a junior etc. So I guess that I am used to it. Bloody great when you do qualify though. It goes well with my bus pass and senior rail card

I got vision, and the rest of the world wears bifocals.
