I couldn't give two hoots if it gets built or not as i won't be able to afford to sit in there nor would I want to.

But, i don't see why they have to go for this big over the top stand. Surely they can restructure the stand already there, build an upper tier on top (a bit like Liverpool have with their stand) and make room for some new corporate boxes.

Then they won't have so many planning problems, p1ss off residents (with whom i have some sympathy with) and it may be completed this century.
Or is this all about Mr Burn's legacy and his ego?!

I thought it was about maximising future club income to help ensure sustained success (and help prevent slipping backwards).

It is also about ensuring we have a legal stand. Our current one is wooden and sooner or later will be declared illegal due to fire risk. We have already been in trouble over access for disabled supporters.

Simply put whether we increase the capacity or not at some point the ground must be rebuilt.

One more point

It's also needed for more legroom as it's only a matter of time before someone sues CPFC after developing deep vein thrombosis after sitting in the old stand. It really is painful if you're over six foot tall...

All the above posts point towards re visiting where our club is from.
With enough support we could return to Crystal Palace.

The stand will be 141ft at its peak, not 300ft. Sensationalism at its finest

I read elsewhere that the confusion over the height is because construction plans use height above sea level, not height above ground level. So the construction plans show the top of the new stand will be about 90m/300ft above sea level. And I think the ground at Selhurst is about 50m above sea level. Which means the new stand will be about 40m/140ft above ground level.

Kind of interesting...

Prepare for even less legroom in any new stand.
Parish is already on the record about how excited he is regarding the inflated prices he feels he can charge for the new seats compared to existing rates.
He will have a huge financial incentive to squeeze as many seats in as possible.

Looking at the aerial pictures I am far from convinced about this new stand. It is so big and out of proportion to the rest of the ground. Part of the problem is I think going for a construction method that builds over the existing stand. Surely a more modest new stand would be far more appropriate for Selhurst Park and the local community. Currently it is going to tower over everything. The inadequate Arthur Wait stand and the reduced White horse are both going to look like ancient relics alongside the new one. Plus, the new stand and the Homesdale clash horribly in architectural terms. Carefully consider Palace before crawling ahead at snails pace. Building a smaller stand will be far cheaper and can still go over the top on construction. It just wouldn’t be so grand. But is one Grand stand what we want while the White Horse reduces to a few rows to get an enlarged pitch in and the Arthur looks across from the past. All very imbalanced in my view.
