Anyone watch the Rangers game last night? As we’ve been linked with Aribo I wish I had watched it to see him play. Thoughts anyone who did?

It was a fairly frantic game which was enjoyable but not so high in quality. So it was a bit hard to judge.

He looked fairly decent, quite a presence and had some nice touches. For a reasonable fee I think he'd definitely be a useful player.

Calvin Bassey the Rangers CB was the standout for me.

Thanks, Gallagher replacement or something different do you think?

I've seen him on 5 or 6 occasions including last night and he is ok at best.
He shows a good touch at times but not very quick and sometimes i feel he isn't much of a threat.
He did take the goal well last night but was helped by their player slipping.
If we bought him i think he'd be used more as wide in the front three rather as replacement for Gallagher.

Could not see anything in his performance that would make me think he would be effective playing in the Premier League. Just look at Edouard he was more of a stand out player in Scottish football but has struggled to adapt. Not for me.

Agree thought Bassey was excellent.

Aribo for me does look a good player, Eze-esque if anyone is unaware. Not quite so many tricks up his sleeve but perhaps more likely to get forward hence his goal which, BTW, was bemusing for me in a way - It looked as though he scuffed a poor shot but that equally completely threw the GK who just watched it dribble and bump past him, or was that just me???

I feel a bit burnt with Edouard thus far and would therefore be reluctant for us to commit limited fund to him. I think were he to arrive at Palace he may well be a very welcome addition to the squad however could not see him improving the team/starting XI with any real significance, I think that may be harsh but fair.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I agree Aribo is good against opponents who give him room. Whether he could do it in the big league is less certain. It’s unfair to say Edouard hasn’t lived up to his billing. He hasn’t had much game time. PV may be aitting on him as he did with Hughes and Mateta and to some extent Eze. Let’s see how he does if he gets a run next season.

I agree Bassey looked the best player on the field. Good defensively, strong and quick! Brendan Rogers offloaded him from Leicester but then defensive nouse was never Brendan’s strong point!

I don't think that's harsh. I think you're completely right. From the Scottish PL games I see on Sky, most of the teams aren't even Championship quality. Essentially, it's roughly equivalent to League 1 outside of the top 2. But a top SPL player is going to cost you much, much more than a top League One player. And how many League One players do you think would thrive in the PL?

Like you, I'll give Edouard a full season before I pass judgment on that transfer, but I'm starting to worry his return in Scotland proved only that he's a flat track bully who might not be up to delivering against world-class PL defenders week in, week out.

As it happens, I like Aribo but as others have said, I'd not pay "starter" money for him. He's most likely a squad player. And if Rangers think he's more than that and they're willing to sell then sign him for a sensible fee with a lot of incentives to increase it if he does prove to be the real deal at Premiership level.

Aribo is a big yes from me... both him and Bassey were outstanding today... I’d have both... however think Aston Villa will be in for Bassey though...
