Decided not to get out of bed (4.45am start), but woke at 5.40, saw the score and a few excited texts from my son, so got up to bask in the glory.......

Saw many times in previous years where we looked terrific in the 1st half but something happens at half time and the game changes. What happens? When they got the 1st so early, got a bad feeling.

We sit back, and bringing on Luka just entrenches that, thought we needed Gallagher's work rate at that point.

Love Eze, but he lacks a hard edge and doesn't defend well.

Some lazy off sides from Wilf and stray passes when we went forward.

Be mightily peed off if it was a critical game for us, but I'm going back to bed.

Eze had most tackles for us first half and most in the game against Aston Villa and was our best player by far tonight. He was the only one that turned up second half

I was hoping Butland would be a decent replacement for Gaita...
He wasn't. Yeh yeh yeh I know the defenders let him down, but those goals were not fantastic. I'd wager Pickford would have saved every one and Gaita maybe at least 2. Okay, about the others: Luka stuffed up a clearance and I was expecting a goal from it. Rewind the first goal a bit and it's Luka who stuffs up - again. Hughes is okay but a bit fragile don't yah think? Zaha didn't do much constructive. Ayew...well he was Ayew... Now PV: No I didn't like the line-up with Connor on the bench too long and Ayew on the pitch too long and why oh why couldn't we have given Rak-saki a run? PV is okay but he's no genius. Schlupp and Mateta off? Ayew and Luka?
I mean, if we are thinking about next season give the youngsters a run. We need a real captain next season. Kouyate is good but fare go he was injured I think today. I would like to see Loftus Cheek or similar in the midfield. Maybe Macarthur as captain I guess he was injured? We need a PL version of Jedinak.

That was really a disgraceful performance, throwing away a 2 goal lead in the second half, to a terrible team, and looking like we were wetting ourselves.

Everton is a total crap side, with a total crap manager, and it looks like they will finish 15th, and we will finish 14th.

Hugely disappointing finish to a season where we should have been in the first half of the table. I don't know what our problem is, but we look like a weak and fragile team at times. Get some players in here who have the balls to overcome matches like today.

2017 Feb. (Van Aanholt) Palace 1 - 0 Middlesboro
2018 Jan. (Sako) Palace 1 - 0 Burnley
2019 May (Batshuayi, Batshuayi, OG, Van Aanholt, Townsend) Palace 5 - 3 Bournemouth
2020 Feb. (Van Aanholt) Palace 1 - 0 Newcastle

Never liked to blame the refs for losing, but this one (Taylor) was dishing out yellow cards to Palace players and handed free kicks for everything to Everton. While the guys in blue shirts got away with almost everything.
Wonder what Taylor's comment on the pitch invasion will be?

Just on coach starting a long journey back home!! They exploited our weaknesses second half and it’s not difficult. Just put high balls into the box. We’ve struggled all season with that and did again tonight.

If I never see Luka in a Palace shirt again it will be to soon. Just did not get bringing him on because he can’t do anything right. Really disappointed to throw that away against a really poor Everton side… And Benteke… Please just leave.

Just annoyed really. At least I’ve got the 6 hours journey back to look forward to!!

This is the crux of the matter, all three of their goals came from punts into the box from wide positions. This season we've conceded far too many like that.
Three conceded in 45 minutes, the players bottled it, and Vieira made the wrong substitutions at the wrong time.
It wouldn't sadden me overly to see Zaha go,he gives the ball away far too much, most of his goals this season have been penalties, his assist pecentage is low, and at 130k a week for what he actually offers on the pitch, the board have a decision to make.
The thing about this sort of game is it becomes clear what needs to be fixed. Milo is done at this level, and Benteke doesn't have a care in the world as long as his salary goes into the bank every month. A couple of easy decisions for the board right there for starters.

How has it been unbelievably good season?

You may want to refresh memory and take a look back over all our seasons in the Prem (I have helped you out a bit)

Staying in the league you class as the goal really

Season - POS - Manager - Spend
21/22 - 13 - Patrick Vieira [Cup Semi] - £77.05m
20/21 - 14 - Roy Hodgson - £20.16m
19/20 - 14 - Roy Hodgson - £6.84m
18/19 - 12 - Roy Hodgson - £10.67m
17/18 - 11 - Roy Hodgson - £44.06m
16/17 - 14 - Sam Allardyce - £91.08m
15/16 - 15 - Alan Pardew [Cup Final] - £25.92m
14/15 - 10 - Alan Pardew - £28.10m
13/14 - 11 - Tony Pulis - £29.70m

Next you claim nothing to fight for here are two prize money and you want to beat rivals Brighton who are above us.

Disgraceful second half.

Manager again showed at times he is clueless and the players didn't even need to really do much knock the ball around be boring keep doign what other teams do waste time fall to ground.

Wilf again showed he is not a top player and its about time he stopped getting special treatment from the club when not performing.

What do you want to do then - get Pullis or Allerdyce back? Maybe Woy fancies one more season. Yes it was a cr*p second half. It happens. Especially in that atmosphere. What about Villa last Sunday - fought back with ten minutes left. Southampton - fought back to win it after being behind.

Everton need to be made an example of, the pitch invasion before the game ended was a disgrace. I expect the Palace players were just waiting for the final whistle to get down the tunnel as quick as possible, before those scouse thugs got to them.
The stewards did nothing to stop them, a nasty trend is creeping into football, just ask Billy Sharp, who needed stitches after a pitch invasion.

Missed McArthur’s cool head in midfield. I would have said a striker was a priority but we need a more experienced leader in midfield. Luka has had his day. Bringing him on for Hughes made us worse. I assume PV was worried he was about to get a second yellow.

Looks like we’ll finish where we usually end up unless we beat Man U and Wet Spam, Burnley, and Leeds all win.

I’d feel less disappointed if we’d come back from 4-0 down to lose 3-2
but as PV keeps saying we need to learn game management. For a brief moment there we were above the Seaweed! I need a drink!

That would have been a f***ing miracle!

Anyway that pathetic performance perfectly encapsulated the disappointment of supporting this club for 40 years. We excel in mediocrity and I don't understand why. The only difference between 'now' and 'then' is that today's players earn millions for being never quite good enough. So thanks, Palace, for yet another night of anger-fuelled insomnia.

I'm signing off now. Frankly I couldn't care less what happens in the final game.

Everton already know that the away dressing room is in the car park, someone should be asking their head of security what plan or provision (if any) he had in place to get the visiting team & its management safely from the field of play upon the final whistle.

Media etc saying Ayew should have been given a red. Can someone explain why an identical tackle by DCL was not even deemed a foul. Perhaps because Clyne or our bench didn’t react like Everton, Pickford running half length of pitch to complain.
Thought ref was ok first half but whoever gave him his half-time pep talk should take a bow.
