Biggest improvement for me was the style of football we now play. Going to Selhurst in recent seasons was becoming an arse numbing chore, huge improvement in that department .

Talented young players being purchased and coming through the ranks, hopefully good times ahead.

Hard to believe only another 10 points and we would’ve finished 6th, which was easily achievable considering the points we dropped letting in late goals

Definitely wasn’t expecting such an enjoyable season. We may still have our flaws, but at least we’re entertaining now and we at least try to attack even if we’re not always that slick in the final third.

Roll on next season

If you’d of told me preseason…

- Vieira will see us cruise through year in mid table obscurity
- We’d reach Wembley
- We’d have a fresh looking squad with exciting young players who may still get better
- We’d be playing a new, more attractive style of football almost directly contrast to Roy’s (Still a hero nonetheless).
- There’d be a real sense of unity at the club
- We’d get 4 points off the champions, thrash Arsenal, finish with beating United
- A whole lot more positives

…I’d of likely scoffed and called the Maudsley.

I will always maintain the right to moan, criticise, speculate and irrationally despair as a Palace fan, I will also staunchly support others to do so, within reason, as I consider it requisite of a true fan.

It’s a massive and standing ovation from me for Pat, his team, all staff and of course the players.

Hope for a good summer window, incomings and outgoings, decade in PL, new stadium updates, optimism for future and whilst others may well disagree, considering the pandemic and general state of the world etc., I think this is a fantastic time to be a Palace fan.

There’ll be plenty to entertain ourselves in the meantime, transfer talk will no doubt be lively, others as ever, but my best wishes and love to you all! We can sit back, relax and dream of what may yet be!

COYP!!!!!!!!!

I couldn't have put it better myself... so I won't.

Wholeheartedly agree and fingers crossed for a positive summer. Phase two of the transition to begin.

COYP

Those dropped points ......

2 extra against Brighton at home
2 extra against Arsenal away
2 against Norwich away with missed penalty
3 dropped with last min penalty at Leeds
3 dropped with the woeful second half performance at Everton

There are your 10 points !!! (And some)

An excellent season, change of style has been great too PV is such a good fit for us. For such a legend as a player he has no ego and is a respectful and humble man. He also really 'gets' our club. We are lucky to have him.

Harping on about dropped points is pointless, every club will have a similar story. Over 38 games things even themselves out, 12th position is about our mark.
The majority of fans, would have bitten your hand off for a 12th position finish, when last summer nobody seemed to want to be our manager, as the rebuilding task was too much for them or wanted to bring a huge entourage of hangers on, with them.
Vieira has turned out to be a class act, not perfect and made a few mistakes, everybody does.

That one only cost us one point as the game was 0-0.

I think overall we finished where we should have. Obviously I'd have taken a higher finish but I think a 12th place finish keeps expectations a bit more realistic for next season. Tenth or higher next season with a decent cup run would again be good progress but that's certainly not a given.

You’re spot on of course, but no-ones harping, just commenting on it and thinking about what might have been, I’m sure we’re allowed.

At last we look like the home side when we play at Selhurst rather than a cautious away team sitting back and waiting for a break.

Not every club will. I did an analysis a few weeks ago which I think showed that after the 80 minutes goals conceded had cost us a dozen points and goals scored zero - remember we had not won by a single goal until recently. Since then we had the two point swing to us at Southampton. partially offset by Everton's late goal. xG also would have placed us sixth

The question is really are we just a random outlier this season or is there something systematic like poor conditioning, mistaken substitutions, need for sport psychologists etc. that can be changed

Where do you start with 'what if'? I've worked out that if we had retained the points we literally threw away this season we would have been 7th and Europe.
