World Cups, Euro Cups, Nation Cups - will Scotland/Ireland or Wales ever win one?

No, because, as teams, they are not very good

I think you can add England to your list as well

Incase you weren't told, England DID win the World Cup in 1966

None of them have a decent domestic league so they have to rely on other countries mainly England to train their players.

They need to stop looking at England and look at Holland, small population that has over achieved in multiple sports. What are the Dutch doing that they are not.

England's failure to add to one world cup is a whole other story.

.

small country with more people than Scotland,Wales and Northern Ireland combined. Also, they have only ever won the euros, and that was 34 years ago

Also, Holland's penalty shootout record is worse than England's.

Holland 2 wins out of 7.
England 3 wins out of 10.

My bad, I thought the populations were much closer I didn't realise Scotland is only 5.5m.

Still I stand by the general point about Holland over achieving in sport. They may have only won one major cup but they have appeared in 3 world cup finals and 2 other semi finals and 4 European semi finals. That is pretty impressive for a nation of 17m.

And like I said it is not just football, the Dutch are world class in a number of other sports.

A Dutch friend explained to me that sport tends to be run separately from school so rather than have a PE teacher who is a jack of all trades you are taught football hockey etc. by trained specialist coaches.

In Ireland we tend to think Jack Charlton was incredibly successful. If he had been England manager, he would have been crucified by press and fans. Awful style but got some results. Cascarino not even eligible to play, but who cares?!

Stephen Kenny gets angry with the media every time he's told that Ireland weren't good enough. Quite hilarious, a real bluffer.
