You don't have to pay over the odds.
There is value in the lower leagues and overseas.
I hate to say it, but look for example at Brighton's imaginative dealings for lesser known players that have seen them rake in excess of £100m in profits while remaining highly competitive.
I hoped we were going down this route after last year's dealings.

The fact is that we have weaknesses in the squad and they have not been addressed, even via the loan market which was available to us.

I seem to remember from past windows that the loan window carries on for a period of time after permanent window closes ?

I think that has been dead for several windows. The only thing available for us now are free transfers and I don't see that happening.

It seems fairly clear to me that Blizter and Harris wont put their hand in their pockets and Textor will probably feel he did his bit last time.

A poor window in many ways, I think after we signed Doucoure our business was done unless we got lucky.

We still have the same weaknesses we have carried over for many windows now, I just hope we have enough to get us through another season.

Mid table mediocrity at best.

I fear the worse, we have a sloppy defence that struggle to deal with balls coming in to the box, we lack a good box to box attacking midfielder and lack a quick robust striker who is constantly seeking opportunities inside the penalty area with good anticipation skills. The investment this window is shameful. The quality to stay up this year may well require at least 40 points if not more!

While I am definitely disappointed that we didn't strengthen the squad in this window, I'm not that surprised.

Parish won't overspend again like he did with Sakho and Benteke, and it seems he felt that market prices were inflated at this time.

I think any ambition to push up into the Top 10 this season can be forgotten unless we are lucky with injuries and one or two players radically improve.

This was always going to be a strange season given the World Cup nonsense ( my opinion ), and there are going to be some bumps in the road for sure. Finishing 12th again would feel like success under the circumstances

I just hope that PV isn’t too pee’d off with this window! We’ve been up that road before!

Just as Roy was time and again PV has been very diplomatic in his comment, but he was still clear as to the fact the squad needed more additions.
PV is not Roy, so how will he feel if his team struggle, let’s face it look at some response to the Brentford game, it’s him that will get it in the neck, when it’s not happening.
I guess we have to accept the limited budget, but the playing field is forever changing.
The five substitutes rule has , made even the best of squads bring in extra cover, we have gone the other way losing Gallagher , leaves us short of where we stood last season, and for all his critics so does the lose of Benteke,. Roy always fiddled through let’s hope PV will.

I am disappointed we didn’t get any better players in than what we have but when you look at what has been signed across the division we were not the only ones struggling for players. Look at Villa’s 2 signings and Brighton signing Gilmore. There are loads of examples of teams just taking players that don’t really improve their quality but just add numbers

Docoure is a massive signing for us and a mile better than what other teams have signed around our level. We will be fine and have an excellent season.

The Peterboro chairman unhappy with our 'alleged' bid of 4 millions + for his starlet.

He has also bought a guy in from the toon.

Why we would buy him and lend him back I have no idea.

Like Plange he would probably end up in some EU dumping ground.

I am chuckling at the thought of their chairman he may well have shot himself in the foot.

Gilmour is tailor made for Brighton and I think he will be a success.
Their style is all about quick passing through the midfield and retaining possession.
His lack of stature shouldn't be an issue.
Dendonker is a good player who can play a range of roles in midfield as well as having physical power and stature.
Garner was one of Forest's best players last year and has a good pedigree at Man Utd with many of their fans disappointed that he's been let go.
Gueye has been a good player for years and has top level experience.
What I'm saying is that there were a range of players available with different skill sets and experience and I'm sure you could add many of your own.
I feel we could easily be exposed in midfield this season and the lack of retaining Kouyate makes even less sense (I don't see Doucoure as a replacement).

So we finished 3rd off bottom in spending, only ahead of Leicester who are in financial trouble and Bournemouth who are generally in trouble.

I hope this isn't a prelude to the season outcome.
