Gilmour is tailor made for Brighton and I think he will be a success.
Their style is all about quick passing through the midfield and retaining possession.
His lack of stature shouldn't be an issue.
Dendonker is a good player who can play a range of roles in midfield as well as having physical power and stature.
Garner was one of Forest's best players last year and has a good pedigree at Man Utd with many of their fans disappointed that he's been let go.
Gueye has been a good player for years and has top level experience.
What I'm saying is that there were a range of players available with different skill sets and experience and I'm sure you could add many of your own.
I feel we could easily be exposed in midfield this season and the lack of retaining Kouyate makes even less sense (I don't see Doucoure as a replacement).

Add O'Brien, Mangala, Aouar, Lavia, Aribo, Roca and Adams to that list and it shows that there were plenty of obtainable midfielders being brought in at in-and-around the 10m mark.

Yeah definitely....because we replaced him with a better goal scorer, right?? Oh wait...

We're now left with an out of form Eduoard and a woefully inept Mateta at this level. At least Tekkers would've given us a different dimenson.

Behave yourself, it’s frightening how much he’s cost us over the years and what we’ve actually got back. Different dimension? He was a waste of space who needed the ball put on a plate for him because he wouldn’t graft to make something happen himself or attack the ball when it was put into the area.
Yes we could still do with a goalscorer, but at least Mateta Edouard and Ayew give their all for the shirt even if they’re not the greatest strikers we’ve ever had

Hi Dazza

Understood this was your thread - any chance of a closing summary/words of wisdom? And what you're hearing about the next window, perhaps you could start a new thread on that?

COYP

Jackson.. Wan Bissaka.... Sansom.. Nicholas.. Cannon.. Guehi.... Zaha... Thomas.. Byrne... Holton.. Rogers.. that should do it..

If we can’t scrape together £10m-£15m for a position where we desperately needed someone then we are either in a poor state or our owners want a bit more pie themselves than they are letting on.

I can remember a time when SP would be on media the day afterwards commenting on the transfer window.

So far the silence from the club is deafening.

I guess they know they haven't achieved the minimum required for the club to progress.

Still it's what we have. Think we have to hope that McArthur gets back to fitness soon and stays fit all season, Richards turns out to be great cover across the back 4, Ebiowei gets a few chances and takes them, one of the front 2 starts scoring regularly and none of Zaha, Doucoure or Mitchell get injured.

If all of them happen we may finish top 10. If all of those go wrong we are probably bottom 3.

I have to disagree with you about Edouard and IMO doesn’t give his all and is lazy plus technically questionable.

At least he gives more than Benteke did and given a few more starts his ability should begin to show, always assuming he gets the right service with balls placed into space and not straight at him so it has to be off loaded quick.
This last is our main weakness, reminiscent of Arthur Rowe's 'push and run' which doesn't work these days.

Mateta runs around more but usually without purpose.

We need a new Glen Murray !

Any updates Dazza?

He’s too in shock after the ‘minimum of two players’ he expected us to sign on deadline day didn’t sign

When the next window opens, we will have only played 18 league games, then we can assess the situation and address accordingly, while a lot of clubs have done their money.

When the next window opens, the World cup will have just ended, Clubs will be spending millions on those who accomplished greatness. Prices will escalate but the players we were/maybe interested in, dependent on who you believe, won't be in this group. Got a feeling that we may get some bargain gems completely under the radar, well here's hoping.
