I suspect there's quite a lot of truth to this.

The first season without Zaha is our big major test. We should, though there's no guarantee stay up this season but we currently don't have quite the team investment levels to inspire much confidence.

Money buys success in the Premiership, if your backers aren't prepared to lose a ton of money then it's quite difficult.

If they see your football club as some kind of sensible investment then you're fecked.

Having just lost Gordon to Newcastle I would have thought Everton could have negotiated a deal with them, "player plus cash" style -
Especially as Newcastle have bought quite a few players in the last 12 months they probably have several now that are surplus to requirements -

Nobody wants or expects us to buy players or overpay for them just for the sake of it.

What we are all hoping for is for the club to plug the very obvious gaps in our first team and not for the management to hope that we can avoid relegation by keeping their fingers tightly crossed

What i am thinking now is to leave Gallagher at his " Boyhood club " for the rest of the season and see how he likes being third or forth choice and coming on as a time wasting sub with a few mins to go and lose his place in the England squad . He will soon get fed up with it ! Then go in with a sneaky 10 mill bid in the summer . Lets face it the only stand out games he has had this season was against us .
