To make an assessment of Vieira’s view of the squad you would have to conclude he’s less than satisfied in certain areas. The evidence?
He plays Zaha or Ayew down the middle in preference to Edouard and Mateta and this is despite the fact that it’s not Zaha’s preferred position.
He uses Schlupp in central midfield in preference to authentic central midfield players in Hughes and Luka.
He has not really used summer purchases of Richards, Johnstone and Ebiowei.

This is not to debate the merits or the validity of his choices.
It’s more an indication that he’s not convinced by our options in midfield and up front and doesn’t feel the summer purchases are good enough at present or at least not better than the alternatives already in the squad.
I wonder if Vieira’s aligned with the club’s transfer policy on player selection, or whether he’s resigned to the constraints imposed and recognises that his job is limited to managing the players the club impose on him.

I suspect the immense frustration is because we know we are better then we are currently playing. Losing narrowly to Chelsea away wouldn't really be a problem if we hadn't recently lost to beatable teams.

There is frustration at the owners for not seemingly keen to invest in the squad, especially compared to our peers. And at the manager for playing the same team even in the face of defeat after defeat.
