Someone clearly want us to be bottom come the end of August.

Add to that, that we have 5 of the so-called 'Big 6' in the first 9 game, which should sort out the men from the boys..

4-10 points from those games and we'll be laughing though... for a while. Doable.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

We took quite a few points off the ‘big 6’ last season, so bring it on

Tough start to the season but you have to play everyone twice at some point so I guess it is what it is.

One interesting point to note is we have to wait to the last game before the break for the World Cup (12 November) to play one of the promoted sides (Forest away). This might be a good thing. Promoted sides often ride on a wave adrenaline in the first few weeks of the season and as a result cause a few upsets. I'd prefer to play them later in the season when the novelty of being in the "Greatest League" in the world has worn off.

Wow that is a seriously tough start! If we’re not in the bottom 3 after the first 9 games I’ll be surprised but on the other hand we couldn’t have asked for a better run-in, especially the last 3 so I suppose we can’t have it both ways.

Very good point, not to say it will be correct but that mirrors how I feel. I'd rather lose twice to L'pool and City in the first few games than lose 3-0 to Huddersfield at home first game of season, still not over that

I'm actually quite optimistic for the new season, which is very unusual if not very rare. It may just be something to shake up my non-descript, Thursday morning ambivalence however the mere thought of a new footballing season is enough to fire me up!

I still maintain it is the true hallmark of a lifelong Palace fan however to look through each and every fixture with the predominant sentiment being 'we could lose all of those'

COYP!!!

A few signings in the meantime would be nice

Sometimes the big teams take a while to get going, so it might not be bad to get them out the way early doors. Having said that there was Chelsea last season! I don't actually think Arsenal are a million miles away from us ability wise and we finished above Villa. I could see us getting four or five points from the first four games. We could easily end up with none though!

For the completist, don't forget draw and we'll be second and still in the CL places.

Much rather this than a Run of games vs the newly Promoted teams.
You never know how teams start the season, and there's always upsets in the first few matches. Best time to play 'em is what I say!

It's like a free hit for us; Lose and we've lost nothing as we were never expected to win, Win and we've started the Season on a flyer with the hardest games out the way.

The only issue is if we end up with 4 defeats, stuck to the bottom of the table on 0 points, regardless of whats gone before and who we've played, morale will be low and pressure will be applied. So it'd be best if we get some points on the board!
