Okay, lots of positives. By 3/4 time Palace were matching them or outplaying them. Once again we didn't win the midfield. Doucoure's an upgrade on last season but I am saddened we didn't get another, better, midfielder. A holding midfielder. Ah well. We can expect to lose against teams like Arsenal but it was a good baptism for this season. We'll be all the better for it.

It must be frustrating playing behind Zaha, a player who turns over possession consistently

Ain't knocking the back four today when they slice through our midfield so easily. I mean there isn't even token resistance, very poor tonight.

Don’t think this Arsenal side is as good as they’re making out in Sky. We could easily have taken a point in this game. Unfortunately Mitchell has struggled all night to cope with Saka and as we’ve given away sloppy goals

Until we can solve our difficulties up front we are going to struggle!

Promising first game. We should stay up for another season, or hopefully improve.

As was the case last season if we don't take our chances we can get hit with sucker punches like that OG when we were searching for an equaliser.

Really should have had a point out of this!

We could have took a point from that. Lost to 2 sloppy goals and we missed 2 sitters. We will only get better. One of those games.

He needs replacing

He's awful... I'm not sure how how we expect to progress when we have him starting every week.

We looked like a team that haven't played much together pre season which of course is exactly what happened. We looked disjointed, hesitant and slow.

Midfield was completely non existent.. Schlupp is not a centre midfielder why on earth can't PV see that??

Guehi had an absolute shocker. Thought Clyne played well though.

Forget next Monday at Anfield and then the away game to Man City which makes our next 2 home games important otherwise we could find ourselves 4 games in with 0 points.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

Could have won this match if we'd addressed last season's issues of defending set pieces and uprading the midfield. The hole in the midfield put extra pressure on our defenders. PV must get upgrade on Ayew and Milo. This was obvious last season and he's still got them. But still not a bad performance and remember we beat THEM 3-0 not just 2-0! SO we still have bragging rights.

Our back four can stand proud for what they had to deal with all night. Midfield were statues, sliced up into pieces for the entirety. Up front Mateta has to start, he's our only threat in the air. For the most part are forwards were ineffective and the few chances that came their way they fluffed! Big improvement needed all round.

I'm not disheartened by that performance.
We were the better team in the second half and at the end of the first half.
We didn't take our chances and the final ball wasn't good enough and we need to improve in these areas.
If anything their keeper had more saves to make.

Sums it up nicely. They got a bit of luck in front of goal, we didnt. I thought once we got into the game, we were playing quite well. Doucoure had a good debut, struggled with the pace towards the end.
