There is a definite correlation between head-trauma injuries in your younger years and then going on to commit violent crime as you grow older.

But for me, the issue has always been that Islam promotes a violent reaction to all sorts of things that none of the other major world religions do. And yet our collective Western response, in the face of that violence playing out on our streets, is essentially muted/stifled because of fears of being called out on them. Why? Why do so many people feel obliged to always play the 'what about' game when commenting? It is as though the West is simply incapable of calling out a belief system that is not compatible with what are meant to be its fundamental (and I use that word deliberately) values.

But I concede that I suspect we will never see eye to eye on this. And, that ability to agree to disagree, has to remain as a core shared value. But all I see a West in which that is becoming a degraded notion.

I disagree... on disagreeing.

Your views on what I would articulate as a more literal and 'fundamental' adherence to Islam in it's purest form, where very old mantras, attitudes and justification for uses of violence are adhered to are exactly the same as mine I'd say. It's very tempting for me to channel a very violent voice within myself that wants to berate, mock and even dehumanise those that espouse such beliefs. At the very least I would say it is beyond moronic to suggest it remotely chimes with modern British society and I would reject any notion that we must bend to satisfy the needs of others who are actively choosing to live here predominantly to benefit from the successes of our country. I need not explain the expected consequences of me trying to open a Wetherspoons in X devout Muslim location where I can hold Karaoke night on Fridays and protect the right of people to walk through villages starting punch ups and singing football songs a O's in the morning on weekends.

The 'what about' argument is only valid if you saw similar actions play out from another similar source, which we do not these days. We see far more violence in 'the name of Islam' than we do any other religion in modern times. It'd be the same way if anyone took something out of context from the Bible and started quite literally re-enacting it in modern society but that rarely if ever happens.

That's my dilution or at the very least the expected tailoring of the beliefs of those wishing to live here argument. The emphasis should not be on us to change but them. My point is I have seen this play out as such and the odd compromise can be reached but at an extreme of the spectrum it's ludicrous to suggest we should accept any diagnosed detriment, loss, or impact on our society and culture. To bring that back round to the original point I believe in many instances we have seen that play out, I certainly, personally have. I don't accept any argument that suggests we should entertain that thought let alone pursue it. My strongest belief is that those who actively choose to live in a different society should look to integrate as best they can, if they choose not to then fine, don't come or f**k off, we don't owe it to you. To then badge anyone who 'identifies' as Muslim but has actively sought and attempted to integrate themselves in the same bracket as some nut-job or halfwit committing an atrocity they might claim in the name of the same religion is more me equally illogical as previous points made.

To summarise in short, I do believe that integration is possible but what I reject in equal measures is that we have to accept and accommodate any extreme religious views or the assertion that all who practice a religion observe it at that extreme of the spectrum. I'm running out of steam here Matov!

Seriously though, what an awful incident. Reports suggesting he is in a ventilator and will possibly lose an eye. Was there no security?

And below sums up why Twitter is a cesspit and I am glad I never use it ( saw this on bbs).

It's indefensible, but he was quite happy to cost the taxpayer a huge amount in protection from a country he despises

We have allowed a load of medieval religious lunatics to come and live in our home and now they wish to deprive us of the free speech and enlightenment that we worked so hard for.

It's that simple.

I don't care if people believe in the teaching of the Koran or how they interpret it. That is there problem.
It becomes our problem when they threaten our freedoms and those we care about.

At that point, we need to act to protect our society.

Will this attack be condemned by all the churches & synagogues in Saudi ?

Or will it be condemned by the substantial number of Muslim ladies , in the West, with a Western husband/boyfriend ?
