My understanding is that the players warned against Kouyate leaving, in particular he was a father figure to the younger ones.

A 2 year contract instead of 1 looks peanuts now we do not have enough quality cover, his height and presence are missed.

Forest have so many new faces it may not suit him.

Hoping Nat Clyne will recover ok he has done very well considering his past injuries.

Out of interest, where did you get that understanding from?

I think every fan, when looking at our options in midfield and defence, knew we needed to keep Kouyate. It's not like a two year deal would have bankrupted us. Going down because our squad is as thin as Tescos Value bog roll will cost us a lot more. Watching Olise in Central midfield yesterday should have at least been a clue as to our midfield options. Now most of our defenders are injured too. Wonder who could have covered there?

The thinness of our squad in Key positions is a massive worry. All 4 positions in defence have no real cover (Now NC is injured) and this was the case last season too. Luckily we had few injuries last season - hopefully this will continue.

In midfield without Jimmy Mac with Doucoure we have a massive key person dependency. If he gets injured we probably have to worst midfield in the division.

Looked to me that Clyne will be out for a while. I'm guessing a month or more. Seemed to totally turn his ankle and looked nasty. It bent sideways. If it were me, it would be broken.

Started last night, did lots of pointing, struggled to get into the game, coupled of misplaced passes, gave away the free-kick that led to the third goal and was replaced at half-time. I like the look of Soumare, it's a shame he decided to stay at Leicester as him and Doucoure would have made a good partnership I reckon.

No use bemoaning his move to Forest.

He was an 'imposing presence' but offered nothing creatively and his limitations are being shown up in a new side with 22 incomers.

He has made a bad decision, unless they are paying him more.

It is a pity that Luka didn't return to Olympiacos as he is another overrated 'presence' whose forte was unnecessary free kicks, a big sheaf of yellow cards, misplaced passes and no creativity.

Oh for an Eriksen, a Barry Bannon or even a Jonjo Shelvey- they know how to pass the ball !

agreed. But Kouyate & Nottingham forest seem doomed to relegation.

what confuses me is Kouyate had a storming African cup of nations.

And some killer performances in a Palace shirt. What went so wrong, so quickly ?

Monday evening's game will be interesting

Looking a poorer decision as every day passes.

Not prone to injury and two players for the price of one. Decent centre back or defensive mid.

Would free Eze to be used as a wide player and Zaha as centre forward.

Indeed, and he played for Forest yesterday in the 1-0 victory over Liverpool.

We certainly could have done with him yesterday.

A lamentable decision imho.

An extremely poor decision dual purpose player who wanted two years, great injury record, so we went for Jmac and Tomkins, two invalids, which would have covered Kouyate's two years, very poor.
