Cricket replaced the word "batsman" with "batter" some time ago, presumably under similar considerations.

I'm quite partial to the lady who presents cricket on BBC. Isa Guha. Very nice, and speaks very nicely too.

There’s only one pundit who speaks more sense than Souness and that’s Vieira. Our manager gave another masterly post match interview last night.
As for the reactions to Souness, wokes thé lot of them. Ignore.

Oh, I always thought that was done as an homage to C.B. Fry.

I think batty fits the woke crowd. Absolutely mental the lot of them. I’m offended on someone else’s behalf so I am pure.
Pure evil imo

I see that Mr Souness is having to defend himself following yesterdays comments about football and it being a man's game.
He was a tough tackling midfield player in his time and a respected player, manager and pundit and he was watching a game of football yesterday and one that was being played by men!
The fact that there was a female pundit should make no difference and as always the comments have started.
Why can these people not get over themselves?
He didn't decry Women in football or have a go at them - he just spoke as he found yesterday that's all.
The female pundit was only there to promote diversity - for no other reason at all - promotion over talent and positive discrimination as such.
I don't mind it at all in most sports but football, rugby and cricket should be men for the men's game and women for the women's game in my opinion.
That way everyone knows the score.
I suspect I will get dogs abuse for this post but it is not meant to be discriminatory in any way - just sensible thinking to my mind.

He was one of the all time greats therefore he should be respected.

he just meant it is a physical game - that aspect of life is more associated with blokes, not too man lady matadors about - just a turn of phrase. I've posted on here how courageous the tackling can be in the women's game, Souness knows that, the response has been pathetic - object if you like, but the outrage is b+ll+x, or ovaries, no sorry gonads, they're gender neutral.

I liked him ever since, as manager of Galatasaray, he planted a huge flag in the centre circle in the Turkish Cup Final verses their deadly rivals Fernerbahce in 96. Classic.

I thought it was a reference to 'men not boys' as opposed to 'men not females'. He was talking about the male game. I haven't seen anyone else suggest this.

Just yet another excuse for failures to direct their ire and the responsibility for it elsewhere other than on themselves.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!
