Eze took the pi$$ out the Liverpool players a couple of times, but he also made the wrong decision a couple of times, including a couple of weird passes out of play. Liverpool are probably the best pressing team in the league though and against weaker opposition I think he's going to take it to another level this season. His weighted passes are a thing of beauty and it seems Doucoure has that in his locker too. I agree that another defensive midfielder alongside Doucoure would help allow Eze to have more freedom to do what he does best.

On the second occasion (and possibly the first) he didn't have a pass option as no-one moved into space for him and he was running out of options. It seemed that his teammates were stood transfixed by his trickery instead of giving him options.

Nunez has not got a deplorable disciplinary record when one considers his last 3 seasons before joining Liverpool - 11 yellows and 1 red.

I am not making any excuses for his reprehensible actions last night but it was his debut at Anfield, he is only in his early 20s, he so wanted to impress and perhaps emotions got the better of him.I have a feeling that other defenders, viewing his reaction last night, might conclude that he is a player who can be riled into irresponsible behaviour.

Just thought I'd mention as a side note on here that Garth Crooks has put Diaz in his 'team of the week' but not one Palace player.

Utter c**t that geezer (Crooks) can't stand him and apologies for any raised blood pressures!!!

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

PV made it quite clear it was meant to be 5 at the back last night. He may well use the same 5-4-1 against Citeh at the Etihad and rely on the counter-attack.

I don't believe that 3 at the back is going to be PV's preferred system. It will depend on who we're playing. I'm expecting 4-3-3 next week against Villa when we can expect to have a decent amount of possession. He hasn't suddenly morphed into Hodgson Mark II. He said he's looking to develop more flexibility in our game options.

Yes, I would say that’s a pretty fair assessment, my only concern with the 5 is that we are not particularly good at it. Perhaps it will improve.

Does anyone like Crooks? It seems he is universally disliked by fans of all clubs. It's not his opinions I think, but the way he delivers them like the know-it-all kid in class. When he picks a Palace player it is never our best player, just the one who scored. Andersen absolutely bossed Nunez and I don't believe there can have many more dominant displays than his this game week.

Let’s hope Man City don’t have a final ball and finishing is poor like last night. Even though I agree with the 5 at the back for City and last night I’m still not impressed with the middle of midfield where Dacoure worked his socks off. Really did need a Luka, Reidewald or Hughes alongside him as I felt the others lost the ball to easily or couldn’t hold it up. Lot of that being down to Liverpool pressing when we had the ball. Even saying one of those 3 I realise we need a better player like Gallagher but as of yet we haven’t purchased the required player :-( Also wasn’t impressed with Edouard (again) when he came on and perhaps them being down to 10, Mateta or Plange May have been a better option with Zaha going wider? Easy said now :-)

Yep, have noticed that.

Enraging for the football purist but also for fans as he quite clearly does not watch the matches or base his choices on anything other than what anyone can google or ascertain from MoTD!

I'd like to know what he is paid and offer my services. Sounds like hard graft actually sitting around watching football and offering some opinion (which GC does not) however I think I'm up to it.

Crooks has a way of looking at the camera with a sort of half frown after delivering his self proclaimed pearls of wisdom as if to say - "that's you told", which is very irritating.

Got to be somewhat pleased with last night's 1-1 result. Zaha's goal emanated from clinical counterattack, pass and finish and yet as proliferate as Liverpool prove to be , so were we at times. What concerns me from both Arsenal and Liverpool matches is how often Palace hold possession for too long before being caught out rather than measured control and pass. Too many of the passes that are made also fail to reach intended players. Zaha's goal last night prove what is possible against top opposition when all of the parts in play come together with pace and accuracy.

PV said post match that what really pleased him was how our players who love to have the ball did not get frustrated when they were out of possession - he mentioned, Wilf, Ayew and Eze, but I think he was really talking about Eze who was so much sharper and purposeful when out of possession than he was against Arsenal - and his trickery was there for all to see, there were those occasions when he didn't have an option and his pass went stray, which is forgivable, on one or two other occasions he tried to hold on to the ball a bit too long after a chance came to release it and we lost possession, but that was minor compared to all the positives - he was superb and is clearly improving. I thought the game plan and execution was brilliant - my sky high opinion of PV has gone up another notch. PV is improving the players individually as well, not just Eze, Schlupp is now playing with much more positional sense.

As an aside, full marks to the travelling Palace fans who kept up vocal support throughout, although the Sky commentator failed to mention the noise they were making.

So glad their faith was rewarded and they had a happy trip back home.

Now, number one on the agenda for Palace:

In the next two weeks, find (not easy) and sign an attacking central midfielder.
Someone who is able and confident to hold and bring the ball forward - watch Edouard or Mateta bloom if we do get one.

Man and boy Palace since my first game in 1948 sitting on my dad's shoulders
