Concerns over Squad & Transfers

I’m a bit concerned and worried that we can’t make a named 25 man squad for premiership , we have 3GK (Butland out) and only need 2 for match day squad, Tomkins & Macca now quite injury prone with age , I won’t go on about poor Ferguson and Plange is mentioned about going on loan. I feel if we get any injuries we’re in trouble even tho we have all the talent The Boss has said we’re short in numbers which obviously I agree with, I’m starting to get worried that we’re going back to old ways and leaving transfers to last minute and then getting no one. It seems just all gossip at mo with Soumare, AWB, Aouar ,Sarr and Gallagher to name a few. Am I getting worried to early??

We had 19 including 3 goalies before but our youth was nowhere near as good. In fairness, the current squad is thin and that will likely lead to a lack of progress this season. However, barring an injury crisis (don't rule it out!) We will stay up and probably be mid table or thereabouts. A couple more decent players, however, and we probably could break into the hallowed territory of the top half. Tight margins. Red and Blue Army!

I think the loan market is the way forward this season, a couple of experienced loan players, so our promising young players have a years playing 1st team football under their belts.

We always get at least one loan in and last years was a peach! We have cover in all positions and our squad quality and depth has never been better. We also have players that are versatile. And provide no good squad player go at the last minute then we will be challenging for a top 10 spot.

We are in better shape than ever. We can always get a couple of over the hill players, but have instead gone for quite a few younger players with a lot of potential. I'm not worried at all. We have cover in most areas, have a younger squad (not as many injuries, hopefully) and have U-23s that can make their way on to the bench. Remember a few years ago when we had half the first team out with injuries, that was when I was worried.

We don't need to register 25 players if we have young players who can play in the first team but don't need registering. As Grumpymort has said, we have 22 players we can register (and yes one of those is Ferguson) but on top of that we have Olise and Ebiowei who are below registration age and are genuine first team squad players IMHO. I expect there will be at least a loan before the window's end, but even if there's not, we'd have to have a very serious run of injuries to cause us real problems.

Unlike previous squads, this one is young, so not likely to be hit badly with injuries. I wouldn't mind a couple of players - still think we need a another leftback and a box-to-box midfield would be good.

Unlike previous squads, this one is young, so not likely to be hit badly with injuries. I wouldn't mind a couple of players - still think we need a another leftback and a box-to-box midfield would be good.

I am sorry to say we do have a huge gaping hole in the shape of a goal scorer . Let hope we get one in soon , as I don't think any of ours { except Wilf } at present are good enough .

That hole is not as gaping as the lack of a ball holding midfield 'general' - a very rare and expensive bird but without which we will never aspire to a Europe place. That hole is not as gaping as the lack of a ball holding midfield 'general' - a very rare and expensive bird but without which we will never aspire to a Europe place.
