No, really hard work and well won point. Toon did not deserve the win.

Plenty to complain about but they are a good team at home with squad depth. We did well.

Correct.

I counted five attacks by us where we ran at them and they resorted to bringing us down, any of these runs could've led to a goal, our football was cultured I thought very easy on the eye compared to Newcastle, many top teams are going to struggle against them.

Maybe, but we remain toothless where it really matters. I struggle to see where our goals are coming from other than the occasional worldy by Wilf.

I don’t recall a direct shot on goal from the free kicks given when our players were brought down, which means Newcastle were committing fouls early and in the right parts of the pitch.

One of our faults is the number of fouls we give away on the edge of the box. I thought Doucoure had blown it right at the end but fortunately they did not score.

A bloody stressful game to watch. Certainly not at our slickest but I'm pleased that the back 4 and Guaita got the point they deserved for their hard work.

Our subs eased the pressure on us a little but I would have liked to see Hughes come on to add a little more industry. Schlupp and Eze fairly anonymous today, can't afford to have that in the premier league.

Ayew constantly gets slagged off, and I get that he's not our most exciting player, but he put in one hell of a shift and helped relieve the pressure on us by winning fouls. He managed to get himself a lot more involved than any other attacker today.

12 games to identify a proper partner for Doucouré... who I thought was again excellent today.

Valuable point... and well done VAR!!! No idea how they disallowed that goal!

Because Ayew likes to run with the ball too many on here say he asks to be fouled which is complete nonsense, with the introduction of the sin bin Newcastle would've been short through midfield and defence today and would not of got away with it.

Grateful to get that point. Thought we defended well but as usual struggled in midfield where Dacoure was mainly on his own. Don’t get me wrong I think Schlupp did okay but the balance with Eze in our midfield just doesn’t work and we are a weaker team this season in midfield because we don’t have Gallagher or someone like him to play alongside Dacoure and Schlupp. Either Macca, Hughes or Luka need to be tried alongside Dacoure or we will continue to struggle in the middle. Unlike the last match the substitutions strengthened us today but we still could have lost with our midfield being weak still. Mitchell isn’t playing as well as Ward and Clyne and at left back we were stronger with Clyne on. As we were with Olise coming on as Eze just isn’t at the races yet? Ayew was brilliant again today as was Guiata. Both MOM. As for the VAR decision having watched it a few times I can understand why it was disallowed. Guiata was definitely fouled with the attacker jumping into him before the ball entered the net. Pleased we got a point but with a more balanced midfield as we had last season that would have been 3 points today in my opinion?

Yes my first impression was that we would be lucky to have that disallowed. It was unfortunate for Guaita, but just one of those things where two players are really committed to the ball. And they properly cleaned one another out. But the more replays I saw, the more I felt it probably was a touch excessive from Willock. Other than the fact we scored an own goal, I'd have had no complaints about the goal.... just a lot of frustration.

Well it's not just me then. Some think Eze should have a free role in front of a defensive midfield duo, others think he's a deep lying midfielder, pulling the strings. So can someone please tell me, what exactly role does he do? If he is the hub, pulling the strings surely the ball should be fed through him more often than not? I think of the majestic Andrea Pirlo and how he made the role look easy.

Both Mateta and Edourde had very good attempts today saved by an excellent keeper. We've played Arsenal, Liverpool and Man.C and scored three goals against them ..Arsenal were very fortunate because we deserved at least a point. Our scoring opportunities are not the problem.

On my stream, the Newcastle player nearest to the camera, although not actually interfering with play but having the potential to do so, was about 1/2 a yard offside when the ball was played in.
