Rubbish, apart from the second half at Man City, where Haaland was unbelievable and PVs mad subs against Brentford, they have been superb, as they were yesterday

I saw chaos.

He is an average player who creates nothing, we are basically playing with two attacking players, Wilf and either of the mediocre CFs, no wonder Wilf gets frustrated, Ayew twice had the chance to put Wilf in and wasted it with two poor shots, Eze should be playing where Ayew was moved two when Olise came on

The officiating frustrates him, no one can possibly be annoyed by a player attempting to score and you write with hindsight.

Why do you think the opposition foul him then? The officiating is ruining his game the same as Zaha and Eze.

Certainly in the last few seasons, he is one of the top most fouled players in the league.
If that doesn’t tell people something about his positive contribution to the team then nothing will.

You do have a blind love of Eze and I think that can blinker the contributions that others make.

Stats are useful, but they only tell half the story. 2 of Eze's assists came against City. Ayew won the freekick for first, and was involved in nice play with Edouard to win the corner for the other.

I'm not trying to argue that he's our best players, and I'm also a huge fan of Eze but it's a team game. You'll always be able to point to poor scoring stats and obviously that has been an issue for Ayew but there's a lot more that he does contribute.

His tireless effort yesterday was vital and he was pretty much the only attacker who relieved pressure off of our defence by holding the ball up, winning fouls etc. This was instrumental in us gaining a point yesterday...but there won't be any stats on it!

Marginally Newcastle may have thought they should have won the game, they had some good efforts stopped by Guieta, that’s what he is there for but never mind. And only to pleased to ignore Palace might have completely ruined their day.
After that it’s sour grapes, that the expensive outfit failed to beat the havent got a pot to piss in outfit.
Didn’t expect anything else from MOTD, or Shearer,. How biased can you get?
Willock was always going to clash in that way with Guieta, his forward motion was well set ,and Mitchell’s contact was minimal ,as things stand that decision would be made week in week out .
All in all well done lads, not your best day, but a really good point against a more than useful side, in their own backyard.

The decision to overrule the goal was absolutely correct.

Obviously the opposition don't want us to cause them problems and I know we also use the professional foul but all our attacking players are excellent running with the ball and I just feel something needs to be done through the officiating to encourage managements to play this way rather then stopping it, it'll help with our national side.

Do all the Newcastle fans seriously believe that Mitchell shouldn't have attempted to clear the danger, his momentum to get to the ball brought him into contact with their player, it's a bit embarrassing really with their desperation.

IF there was any contact with Willock it was minimal. Both Mitchell and Willock were challenging for the ball.Mitchell never gave him an almighty shove plummeting him into Guaita.
Willock barged into Guaita with some force and it was right and proper that the goal was disallowed.

Respect the point.

Newcastle had, I believe, won 8 of their last 10 home games. Only losing to City and Liverpool.

I thought we defended doggedly, competing for everything. Inspired by one of VG's best performances.

Up top we continue to work some decent openings only to make wrong decisions in the final third.

We urgently need some central midfield options. Let's hope market conditions are more favourable in January.

MOTD was just embarrassing. We could see Shearer winding himself up a long time before. Then he embarked on a rant against the ref, the head of refs, VAR, Uncle Tom Cobley and all. Even the sainted Gary Lineker joined in with a complaint that goal-keepers are a protected species. Yet the ref's decision to rule out the goal was a reasonable one. Yes, it was debatable, and could have been discussed, with the pros and cons set out. Instead we got a ludicrously biassed onslaught from a former Newcastle striker who could not handle the fact that Palace nicked a draw. And that was the only comment MOTD gave on the match, which was predictably the last on the MOTD schedule. Nothing about Palace's tactics which PV got right this time - his substitutions almost won the match. And nothing about Newcastle's strengths and weaknesses. As for the attacks on VAR: yes, there will be very narrow offside decisions, and yes there will be 50:50 calls like the one yesterday. But that does not invalidate VAR which ensures that incorrect decisions are over-turned. It is far better for the game as a whole, and abandoning it would mean that gross mistakes stand, creating far more bitterness than at present.
