Officially, the UK Monarch is a-political. Of no ideology. And He shall remain aloof from all the shenanigans and skullduggery at Westminster.

so, no more Climate-Change Bore then ?

Apart from that, although today is a normal day for us so climate change must only happen in august and pakistan

While the late Queen reigned over a period of public services being sold to private companies, and environmental degradation, the royal family enjoyed unique tax advantages.

King Charles will not have to pay inheritance tax on any of his mother’s assets.

Why not, isn't he rich enough probably many times over.

We won't be pursuing such matters at a delicate time, but its not just republicans who see this as very poor behaviour.

Yeah it was all the Queens fault that public services were sold off.

And as for "Unique tax advantages" That's poppycock. Anyone can set up a trust and many do just that.

The definition of "unique" in the above mentioned case means not enjoyed by others. Ergo, your statement is wrong.

The owners of the Grosvenor estate did exactly the same which was valued at £10billion.

Charles will be a good King, his intellect/vision and compassion for the peoples of all countries he represents is well under estimated.
His passion for climate change is well known. Do not mistake him for an extremist greenie, he is not.
A non combatant fighter pilot in his early days, He also does a passable impression of Bluebottle from the Goons, he has a sense of humour.

He also understands that many countries of the Commonwealth are seeking to become republics and accepts that.
Canada, I believe did that and are still part of the Commonwealth

He grew up around the same time I did. So unconsciously I was able to observe him.

I am listening at all the whingers who cannot respect the passing of both his Mother and Father. How would any of you like to be confronted with his situation. Let him grieve, let him get past this and watch.

The king is still head of state for Canada*. A friend lived there for many years and has plenty of Canadian friends it seems there is no real appetite for Canada becoming a republic according to her. This is because like Australia there is no consensus in what you replace the monarch with.

However it is inevitable that more and more Commonwealth countries will choose to have their own head of state. It does seem crazy that the King of Canada is not a Canadian.

*I forgot to add that there is still a strong separatist and pro French movements in Canada. I suspect the reluctance of most Canadians to address the King of Canada issue is a fear that any move to that will ignite those movements so its a case of let sleeping dogs lie.

I was in the French speaking part of Canada last month. Their focus had always been to be a separate French speaking nation with the Bloc Québécois floating in and out of fashion. They got excited when the Pope visited but apart from that I think they are currently pretty docile as they have a fair amount of autonomy. I agree however that a vote on the monarchy may spark a rise in the Bloc Québécois and other separatist parties but I don’t think they really know exactly how they would run themselves if they ever got into power. Hence there has often been more than one separatist party due to arguments and consequential splits.

hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing.

Presidential candidate Job Description:

- Someone who could represent and embody the nation especially in times of crisis / mourning / significant moments.

- Somebody with gravitas and dignity.

Likely candidates:

- Senior politicians e.g. Blair or Johnson. But they would be divisive and half the country would not vote for them. So that's a no from me.

- Lesser politicians who are not as well known. So their qualification is that they failed in politics and are so ineffectual that they are not divisive because they have never done anything of note. Err no thanks.*

- Celebrities e.g. President Love Island / Pop Star / Boaty MacBoat Face. No thanks I don't want a gimmicky head of state when we have to mourn our dead.

Solution:

If only there were a group of people trained from birth to serve the nation with dignity who keep their politics to themselves and know how to do the pomp and circumstance. Err hang on isn't that the ....

*Around the world most countries that have a President who is just a symbolic Head of State come from this category, non entity politicians e.g. the President of the EU a failed junior German minister.

I know it's a solemn day for many but a friend just made me laugh about how the elite will arrive at the Abbey.

President Joe is taking The beast however the rest will be going by bus.

Does that mean they will waive down a double decker?

King Juan Carlos "One for Westminster Abbey please"

Driver: Got your Freedom pass mate, Or an Oyster card?

King Juan Carlos "Eh"
