Bearing in mind it was Christmas time, my extended family members were fixated by the idea that Advent should start with a capital letter and was a singular event that could not be pluralised.
I tried arguing, with reference to the industrial Revolution, that there could be advents. However, trying to argue logic with competitors who have cumulatively consumed nearly 2 bottles of Jack Daniels is a battle you cannot win,...without using physical violence.

This reminds me of the evenings when we played "Risk" with friendly couples. It was an unwritten law that - regardless of the specific assignment - all the men gang up on the women - especially on own wives. It always ended with a rip-roaring quarrel and a week's withdrawal of love for the men. Since the sanctions of the women have lost their effects with increasing age and togetherness, the women have not played with us for years. It's a pity, because it was always very funny.

I believe the last time I participated in a board game was way back in the 80s/90s when my dear wife and I used to compete against each other in Scrabble in our abode in Dulwich.

I guess you're not interested in the strip version anymore then?

Everyone on this site has done that. It's how you prove you're not a bot. That's what Becky told me anyhow.

A very nerdy and geeky game of Talisman, whilst away with a mate hiking in Wales.

Every other Monday morning I play Scrabble with fellow retirees.

One woman is as sharp as a blade, probably because she plays Scrabble. She is 102, and that's her age, not her score.

Backgammon is another favourite of mine, but players tend to be few and far between.

And finally... Rummikub is always good for tacticians.
