I have set up a World Cup 2022 Fantasy League game on the official FIFA website for anyone who would like to join (Edit: Sen Dream Team league also available, see reply below).

For those who haven’t used the FIFA site and played this version of the game before (including me!), it is similar in some ways to Fantasy Premier League. You are given a budget of £100m to pick a squad of 15 players, from which you will need to select a starting XI and captain, and will have a selection of chips to use to help boost your score. The game seems to be more similar to the Euro 2020 version, for those of you who played that last year.

Registering on the site is fairly straightforward. For anyone who has yet to do it though, please keep in mind that your username is actually your team name and cannot be changed once you have confirmed it (I found that out the hard way). You will be prompted to enter your username/team name along with your own name near the end of the setup process.

Also, you will need to agree to the site’s T&Cs and accept entry into the tickets sweepstake, with a prize on offer of two tickets for the World Cup final. Presumably for this reason, the game is open to over 18s only, though entry into the league is completely FREE of charge.

The league is in a classic format, with no limit on the number of entrants. All are welcome to join.

After a memorable World Cup tournament and a final that will go down as an all-time classic, our mini (and I do mean mini!) World Cup fantasy leagues have now reached their conclusion.

Five of you were good enough to take up the challenge of the official FIFA fantasy league with me, while a couple of you joined me in the DreamTeam version.

Very well done to Ehc, who came top of our FIFA league with 311 points, just ahead of footballscominghome56 in second with 305. Great performance from both of you to score over 300 points each.

Qatar Legends finished in top spot in the DreamTeam league with 182 points. Runner-up was KinOurSouls on 158, with Wombling Idiot doing a Croatia by finishing third on 129.

Qatar Legends also finished rock bottom in the FIFA league, so coming top in DreamTeam is some consolation. I happen to know this as I managed both teams myself! So some mixed feelings about how it all went for me this time around.

I am first. I am last. I am a winner. I am a loser. I am a Palace fan. I am an FPLer. I am looking forward to the fixtures on Boxing Day! It will be great to have PL games back again next week.
