A home draw is always nice, if it has to be away I would hope for an opponent at least in the southern half of the country - I would normally agree about getting a home draw but there is a rail strike planned for the FA Cup weekend, and as I rely on trains to get to matches I'd rather save a home tie for the next round. Which of course pretty well guarantees we will get a home draw!

Charlton away would be a good one. Be another chance to put them in their place!

Boring but winnable Southampton have not been impressive away from home but they do have a new manager in Nathan Jones so could experience a "Bounce", furthermore apart from the encounter against A.Villa all our home victories have been by a single goal. Edited by Willo (28 Nov 2022 7.47pm)

50 years on from my first Palace FA Cup tie. Palace v Southampton, 1973. We beat Southampton at home in Div 1 on Boxing Day 1972 (3-0) and then in the cup in January (2-0). The Don scored in at least one of the games, possibly in both.
Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes) |
