The latest from that staunch purveyor of the truth, the Sun reports:

"STERLING'S AGONY Raheem Sterling vows 'I won't go back to the World Cup until my family is safe.' after terryfying raid on his mansion."

(his family were out at the time of the raid).

Will PL players now decide that mere mansions are not sufficiently safe to stow their valuables?

I can forsee a requirement for castles with manned turrets being a normal requirement from now on.

This will obviously require substantial increases in player remunerations.

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.

He should be treated like everyone else, in that the Police might come a couple of days later, or not even come. Merely log the offence.
However, no doubt there are now two Officers full time watching every England player's house. In some ways fair enough, in others not.

I think it's fair enough to describe a raid on one's home as 'terrifying' regardless of whether the property was occupied or not. Who is anyone to judge what others find terrifying? Some people are terrified of spiders, buttons etc

I sympathise with him he may not be scared but his wife and kids maybe.

My suggestion is that he hires Duncan Ferguson as a house sitter.

For those that don't know the reference on 2 separate occasions burglars had the unhappy experience of breaking into his house only to come into contact with "Duncan Disorderly". Apparently they were glad when the police turned up to rescue them.

I must admit I did say to Mrs YT on hearing the news, "Given the amount these people 'earn', why don't they employ a couple of security guards to look after their property when they are away?"

Exactly these footballers know their properties are targets why not hire house sitters. In a perfect world they wouldn't need to but when the police spend all their time on social media....

The headline for this thread bothers me every time I see "Stirling worry" I think oh know not another currency crisis.

And how on earth are they supposed to do that earning 6 figures a week?

I have to say, being from Lewisham, even the thought of a fully detached house frightens me in it's vulnerability. If I were to have such an appalling abundance of riches I do believe I would live in Scarface-esque accommodation, with armed guards and a permanently frozen swimming pool.

I fear a lot of this 'Instagram' generation see some sort of 'MTV cribs' mansion as very much a requisite for their status these days. Whilst I scoff and b!tch about such things, it doesn't take away from the fact that what happened to Raheem is still quite frightening and appalling, even with the pointed finger of blame or judgement. Where's Oddjob? Or what's he up to these days?

But they do pay more tax than the common man, so surely should get a better service from the local constabulary?

Ah!but the house is in a gated development, so a private road. No regular patrols round that!

It's a better Option than Hiring John Terry to look after your wife

Or hiring John Terry's mum! She'd just nick everything from your house.
