Getting dominated by Brighton and stealing points is par for the course. They were all over us in the away game last season and we came away with a point and I think in Roy’s final season again in the away game I remember them battering us and Benteke nicked it in injury time. The fact is no matter how well they play they can’t beat us and haven’t beaten us in the last four seasons.

Completely agree with this. It was fun at first but it’s not any more.

Southampton are toast. Prawn Crackers.

RiP their premier league status.

Way too soon to be talking about teams already being down. It’s not like they are 10 points adrift of safety. Other clubs have survived from a lot worse position than they are in and they will have a new manager soon.

Only last night in conversation with a Southampton supporter, I asserted that I was not going to condemn his team to relegation when they had 16 games to play and were not seriously cut adrift.

I also opined that Jones would not be in charge for their next game and that they could well benefit from a new manager 'Bounce' !

Perhaps we could also benefit from a new Manager bounce.
Shame we failed to appoint Dyche, although Tuchel is still out there somewhere.
Big Pat,is repeating his Nice experience.Strong start but weak finish resulting in sacking.

What is all this nonsense about wanting to to down because it will be more fun coming up back up again ?? !
I mean just ask all the fans of those failed Premiership clubs in the Championship and in some cases gone below, (Oldham in the National League too remember) who have not come back quickly !
I am as fed up as the next man about the performances, particularly against them yesterday, but let's be fair, Vieira, some odd tactical decisions aside, is working with what he has at his disposal thanks to owners who have not supported him this season, not an uncommon occurrence for all our managers at this level.
Our best players have to perform at the top of their game for us to do well.
As has already been said we miss a number of influential players currently who, when they are back hopefully should be able to improve things and in time for the trip to the Gaymex on March 16th as well.
Let us hope that this allows to limp over the line before a summer rebuild.

There are no guarantees with new managers.

Potter at Chelsea, Jones at Southampton hardly working / worked out.

I think Everton did exactly the right thing appointing Dyche but he's won one game albeit against the league leaders. So time will tell.

And if you seriously think an ' Elite ' manager like Tuchel would come to Palace....

After witnessing another sad showing, is it possible to get to the magic 38 points before the final 3 games or is it all going to come down to that? With 16 games remaining, can't see more than 2 points picked up until april, so that's 27. Can we pick up 11 in April against bottom half of table? Doubtful as many are playing much better. Realistically perhaps 6. So that leaves us 5 short of 38 with that last 3 against?

Bournemouth will likely already be relegated so lets assume 3, Fulham might be playing for Europe so let's assume loss. Sitting at 36, will a draw at home against Forest be enough on last day of season and get to 37 points.

Who will take the penalty against Forest to stay in the Prem?

At least this season may have some excitement at the end...

each to their own opinion... but thats the risk id take right now,
why bother compete in a league for so long if you cannot challege for anything other than just making sure we dont finish in the bottom 3?

even if the worst happened and we got relegated twice to league 1 then so be it?!?!? id still have my season ticket and we would push on to hopefully win the league!!

as someone else said, this premier league marlarky used to be fun... but not any more.... just my opinion though

Thought it interesting to compare the current position of 25 points after 22 matches played to the last two seasons of Roy Hodgson’s time as manager. Many felt that those last two years under Hodgson the football was turgid and boring, although yesterday’s performance certainly fits that description as well. In both 19/20 and 20/21 seasons the points total was 29. So the current league position is somewhat misleading as being 4 points worse off means there is a bigger danger of being drawn into the relegation scrap. Also, despite the new approach to playing that PV is supposed to have instigated and far more recruitment of new players that he has been allowed compared to Roy the team is actually worse off in points. Not a good realisation and surely one which should concern SP and the board

It seems to me that although there have been some new players added and Roy is gone, the blueprint of Royball is still with the players, or the players hark back with longing to those days. Certainly PV hasn't broken the mold and we look more like a bad Royball team with each passing game.
