My concerns are:

1) Our squad seems a bit fragile, and I'm not sure they are up for an ugly relegation battle.

2) We're banking on playing bottom teams for the last 2 months of the season. It's true that those teams should give us more points than playing Man City, Arsenal, ManU, etc. On the other hand, all of those teams will be looking at us as a chance to gain 3 points and survive relegation. So again, I'm not sure we're up for ugly battles against relegation squads. On paper, we should pick up points, but we've done nothing to make us believe we can consistently beat out these lesser teams.

3) So'ton always pulls a Houdini and escapes relegation. Same with Everton. So I have a hunch those two will escape. After them, who? Bournemouth...Leeds...Who else? We could easily end up in the discussion.

All very true.
Bottom teams??
Who can forget our capitulation to Forest!!

Very true. But at least we're 6 points clear at the moment. And we are competing against clubs with sovereign wealth fund owners etc. The PL is an extremely slippery pole!

I witnessed the Fulham v Wolves encounter tonight which ended 1-1.
Wolves were top drawer in the first half and fully deserved their lead.
Fulham, outplayed by Wolves before the break were much improved in the second half but Wolves confirmed my view that they will not be relegated.Their passing, movement and energy were far better than we have displayed this season.

Wolves have spent a lot of money to get nowhere, similar to Villa. They have some very technically gifted players but last night the commentator was quoting some crazy stat that none of their strikers have scored in something like a year. I agree that I don't see them going down, with the new manager having turned their fortunes around. I think adding Dawson was a great move as they have always seemed a bit soft to me and he's a thug.

The most ridiculous of the current candidates for the drop are West Ham. In the last five-years they have a net spend of over £350million (only behind United, Chelsea and Arsenal). I keep thinking their squad are far too good to go down, but they just seem like they're sleepwalking into trouble and when I watch them the passion doesn't seem to be there.

These figures are eye watering when you consider like us all these clubs we are also rans in what has become a Nation State or Business Investment league. Very Sad I look back to are promotion back in 69 like the sunniest days of my innocent childhood.

Got to conclude a decent weekend overall - effectively 7 points above the drop zone if you factor in goal difference

Yes, decent results for us. Back to 6 points clear of the zone.

The arse v everton and Liverpool V wolves midweek.

Then at the weekend The arse V bournemouth, chelsea V leeds, Wolves v Spurs Brig V West ham and two relegation battles Saints V leicester and Forest v Everton.

Everton are getting to desperate levels after the next three they face 5 top sides in their next 6 games. And the other one is V us!

Only 11 more points from 15 games needed.

Bournemouth, Leeds and Palace all have got 5 points during the last six games. The worst in the league (Everton & Southampton (6 p), Leicester (7), West Ham & Forest ( and Wolves (10). If that ain't relegation form for the Eagles, I don't know what it is.
Soon Zaha is back, we play "easier" teams etc etc.
Remember previous encounters with Everton, Fulham and Nott Forest?

If Zaha is definitely leaving, I suggest that he sits on the bench for the rest of the season. The team is beginning to look like a functional unit, picking up points against teams higher in the league. Omitting Zaha would prepare the way to establish a style of play for the rest of the season and beyond.

I can see the sense in that but I would prefer if we had a goal scorer in our squad before we do it and that isn’t going to happen until the summer.

Maybe a compromise somewhere in between where Wilf sits on the bench & comes on for the last period (20 or 30 minutes) depending upon how the game is going to give those players that are committed to staying as much game time as possible.
