At one-nil up Ayew conspired to hit the bar from five-yards after a beautiful passage of play and the commentator was eulogising about how well we were playing. Up until the freaky JWP goal we'd completely contained Saints and it looked like we'd win comfortably. Second half we weren't as good and struggled to create much and then Guiata gifted them the win. I didn't say we played well, I just said we weren't awful, in my opinion. Ward and Ayew were really bad today though, pointing again at the need for investment.

Ayew always misses. Waste of time expecting anything else.

I think anyone who watched the game would agree that ayew had his worst game in a long long time, so can you explain why he lasted the whole 90 mins, while both decore and huges , arguably our best 2 players were taken off. I'd also question why Gordon who's been scoring for fun in the u21s wasn't given a chance ahead of mateta, who at 6ft 8, never won a ball in the air. And in hindsight, it may have been a good game to give Sam Johnson a start. This isn't the first time I've found PVs subs mystery.

It's easy to blame Vieira because he's an obvious target. And yet, every one of his critics acknowledges that we have:

* only ONE at-least-average Prem quality midfielder
* only TWO healthy at-least-average Prem quality defenders (Mitchell's fitness being a ?), and
* ZERO at-least-average Prem quality strikers

Zaha, Eze, and Olise can be included in the pile of plus-talented players, but the lack of quality attackers forces Zaha to do everything solo. And, as lovely as the two young players are on the ball, at this stage of their careers they are defensive liabilities in a team which is woefully lacking.

This is why a player like Gallagher or even Gallagher Light (McArthur) would make such a huge difference, turning every 2nd or 3rd one-goal loss into a draw, or draw into a win.

You are talking rubbish.

We have many midfielders who could get in to many Prem teams and being an average player isn't a bad thing look at the past even other smaller clubs passions/drive plays a role as well it's not only about talent.

I am not going to get into strikers this is something people keep recycling yet we have seen the ones we have can score the issue is service and playing style.

More nonsense yes Zaha is a super star never does any wrong wow you need to watch the full games not listen to people on the likes of motd.

Zaha is about Zaha and loses the ball8 out of 10 times and is lazy.

No surprises when you give away 2 soft goals at home you are highly likely to lose. Don't worry I have it on good authority that our 2 new signings Fanny Adams with his sweet left foot and Squat with his diddly right foot will allow us to turn the corner. COYP !!

Seems an unnecessarily harsh and angry rant to assert a very subjective opinion.

'Many midfielders who could get into many prem teams'

'Zaha is about Zaha and loses the ball8 out of 10 times and is lazy'

'you need to watch the full games not listen to people on the likes of motd.'

OK.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Can someone explain why Joel Ward played right back in the first half and then switched with Clyne to play left back in the second, before getting hooked? He is past it as a right back, let alone playing out of position.

If it was PV's decision, then that really is something you see in the park on Sunday morning with the under-11s.

Mitchell back from suspension for Chelsea.

Can someone please tell me what value Osian Roberts brings to Palace? His body language betrays a ‘yes’ man who wouldn’t speak up.

Wasn’t he suppose to be this Welsh wizard tactician? What an absolute joke. Maybe sack him first and get PV a hard-nosed coach who is not afraid to speak his mind.

We keep hearing about all the talent in the academy, but even in a cup game none of the youngsters are given a run out to see if they have the potential to step up and maybe at least being used as substitutes in league games. Why play Ward out of position rather than a young player?

Harsh. Andersen, Guehi, Eze, Olise - he’s done a pretty good job!

Don’t know who else noticed. You had to be in the Holmesdale or that end at the sides but we had a free kick near the end of the match and Eze hit it into the box and Olise didn’t even bother to go for it. It was so close to him but he just didn’t even attempt to win/head it. It just summed up for me how lazy and weak he is. Passing by all today was awful as was the ability to win the ball back or support each other. I can’t see how we can pull ourselves out of this without a new management team coming in. Hope I’m wrong though?

Absolutely disgraceful losing at home to bottom of the table Southampton.
I have been at my splenetic worst.

4 defeats in our last 5 games,3 consecutive home defeats,we are going downhill faster than Franz Klammer.

Our U21s have definitely improved, but I guess they're just not as good as we'd hoped.

I'd really hoped this guy would be an answer, but seems like he's struggling with the transition. Pretty much a year to the day since he played in the cup, and hasn't featured since.

Other teams still have way better output than we do. Our best youngsters just about scrape a loan to a league one side.

Compare that to Arsenal's players out this season [Link]

Players at Hull, Blackpool, Coventry, Stoke... okay they're not world beaters, but it's a better standard than Charlton and Queens Park etc.
