I have been at my splenetic worst.

4 defeats in our last 5 games,3 consecutive home defeats,we are going downhill faster than Franz Klammer.

What you put it like that bad patch doesn't quite cover it. I still think it terms of the league it's not all doom and gloom, but at the same time recent performances are a hard turd to attempt to polish.

Viera said in post match interview with Palace TV that he hopes to bring in better quality players to challenge the existing players.

We all knew that Soton were going to put out a full team and not ring the changes as their manager is under huge pressure at the moment. Still might be beyond the result today as they won't be gifted 2 goals in the PL. We could of run the changes but the gap would of likely of been even greater between the teams. When chasing the game the bench gave no confidence in being able to turn the scoreline around. Neither nor players. For instance Schlupp, producing very little going forward, no assists/goals this season, whilst goes AWOL in defence such as in the Spurs game. The only consistent with him is 2-3 FPL points for time on the field. Has a whiff of Puncheon under Pards where only the manager knew why he got so much game time for such a long run of games ?!? Both him and Luka, another struggling, came in under Alladyce in a January window when we did spend, which turned the season. Don't think we should be relying on these type of players from 2017 to change games now, based on their recent level of performance. As mentioned I'm just hoping we can get some new recruits this month to bolster everybody around the club. COYP !!

Ironically had Ayew conspired to put the ball in the net instead of missing from 4 yards then we would likely be having a very different discussion. However, what is disconcerting is the lack of an idea when the opposition get in front. Clueless from the manager who appears to have only a plan a, dubious substitutions, all too little to late, a lack of workrate or desire from the players. I do wish Zaha would look up and see the pass instead of do his usual cut inside flash a shot over the bar or scuff it tamely at the keeper. He's really frustrating to watch and who knows what it's like to play with him. I won't be sad when he's gone, perhaps then Eze, Edouard, and Olise can step up.

Personally I'm not panicking. I think to say we were awful today is a push. Saints fans were booing their team in the first half because we were so dominant. Second half they had two chances, one of which was a gift from Guiata. We played some good football in patches and if we'd won this 2 or 3-0 I don't think many people would have said it was undeserved. Our final ball and finishing is still off though, which I don't really see a new manager fixing. I do think we need more leadership on the pitch though as everyone seems too passive aside from Wilf.

I feel for the fans who attended the game in horrible conditions and can understand the frustration, but I do think Vieira has earned some patience. Unfortunately for him and us it is a tough run of games ahead of us which I struggle to see us getting much from.

I was there and I tend to agree. We gifted them 2 goals. Apart from that Southampton created nothing. Ironically Wilf (first half against Spurs) and at times today was once again attacking and beating his man wide left. That was good to see. If only Olise would play wide right (instead of his free role) then would would have a threat from both sides. Eduard doesn’t do much but does seem to score when he plays, so that would be my front 3. Back to today we took the wrong option or misplaced a pass in the final third. This has to improve. We lost to a poor side today basically because of 2 goalkeeper errors. It happens as seen with Allison tonight.

I have sympathy with Guaita over the first goal.He obviously thought that Ward was going to head the ball but Ward missed it and Guaita couldn't get to the ball as it curled into the far corner.

Clearly Guaita's mistake for Southampton's winning goal but as we all know he is not the best with the ball at his feet.

Make no mistake we are in serious trouble. We haven’t put on a 90 min good performance all season. Our wins have been by single goals and mostly from behind. Everybody is under performing and we look lazy or knackered every week.

Time to pack your bags vieira and take a few of your go to XI with you.

Not on board with the second paragraph just yet (it's the club's fault) but the first is spot on. The signs of this current shambles have been there all season (arguably since the summer - I would also argue that the lack of quality chances in open play goes back to last season but that's for another day) and the incredible absence of resilience is just something you can count on this side for. It's simply unacceptable and unfit of a Palace side. Whatever we have been in the past I think in my life I have always taken a hunger to hold onto leads, not be bullied by anyone (certainly not our rivals) and pride in defending as a team as a given. It's something all our best sides have had and even last season a key part of us. This team is so far off that that I can't recognise it as a Palace team.

Shame on the owners for their complacency and tightness this summer and shame on the players and Vieira for melting week after week

There has been mention of a dearth of resilience and "Melting" etc etc but our team are second in the table (Behind Tottenham) for points achieved from losing positions.

A Head Coach can't legislate for the sort of errors we saw yesterday with the Southampton goals.

And we've all ( mostly ) agreed that the squad lacks quality and quantity. So the scope to change things around during games is limited.

Once Saints went ahead I knew we were done for. In fact they looked the more likely to score again. Our players looked nervy and directionless.

Our team is proving too easy to play against. If the club actually does any business in this window I'd like to see some proven experience and leadership brought into the midfield.

Steve Parish is either oblivious to the problems we have or is keeping calm when others are losing their heads. I don't think he's stupid so I'm hoping he's working on finding a way to address the problems.

However, if we lose the next 3 games, including against Brighton, it could spell the end for PV.

Hi Neill. HNY to you and the family. I agree with this comment and have been saying the same thing for a while. We need someone like a Jedi in his pomp or a Luka of a few years ago to play alongside CD. Teams just play through us far too easily.
Yesterday this wasn’t so evident but that’s because Saints were awful (as were Bournemouth).
We need to strengthen the spine play more compact and be harder to beat. We need to grind out some results.

Mohamed Elneny brings energy, commitment and enthusiasm.A great deal of desire and determination.

Oh well, treading water in the league for the rest of the season. Doubt our lazy players wanted any extra games. What fun for us fans.
