I don't often defend the BBC but most of the DJ's they have let go lately have been with them for decades and were untouchable they would not last that long on other stations. A golden oldies station needs to be linear if you start with the sixties 20 years later you should be playing the eighties. I think this is what the beeb is now doing of course it doesn't mean that people will listen more that is always the gamble. As for the replacements as another poster has pointed out no doubt they will tick all the right boxes and wont be pale male and stale. It will be interesting to see the radio 2 listening figures going forward.
