I am sitting on the fence as I write this. On the one hand PV had an incredibly tough job last year with such a massive change needed to players and age profile, and he did better than we could have hoped for. This season I am not at all convinced though, and the promise of last season is dwindling. We aren’t playing well, will be lucky to stay out of the relegation battle, and I can’t understand some of his decisions (eg playing Schlupp rather than Hughes as midfield starter), whilst the substitutions are usually baffling. However, I also think he hasn’t been given the right support in transfer dealings since last season, where we have let useful players go without replacing them (eg Kouyate who would have been really valuable at times this season). So the jury’s very much still out for me. What do others think ?

I am Pro PV
He is trying hard to get the team around play it from back , have confidence on the ball , creative more attacking entertaining football

You can see he has a squad of young learning vs old tiresome & slow
and a three lazy sods

So he’s done well last season ,tricky this but the top 8 are fully investing in players not us so we need to be fair to him

If he is not supported with new players I guess he himself will be snapped up
and we will get a new a coach to blame I'm sure
So let’s give him the time the players then judge

He is the best v CCP is h we’ve had in a long time let’s keep him like Arsenal stood by Arteta with their frap season last year - look now who is screaming hot Arteta out now ????

Very good manager. Do I agree with every decision he makes? No. But on balance, the scales are tilted massively in his favour. He's calm, professional, ambitious, has a plan, has the respect of the players, has given us added credibility as a club, and overall has moved us forward on the pitch (with very little support from the board over the last twelve months). If we want to do better, we need to support him, not replace him. Further, he doesn't make knee-jerk decisions, backs himself, and while everyone makes mistakes, he gets far more right than he gets wrong.

Obviously, I could get into the details of why I think some of his decisions make sense but I'll save that for another day. Anyone who thinks we should replace him, I don't understand at all.

Some of the players signed whilst Vieira has been at the helm :
Andersen, Guehi, Gallagher, Hughes,Olise,Eduoard,Johnstone,Richards,Doucoure.
Over £100 mill of signings.

I'm all for PV, talk of getting rid of him is daft. We can't go out and buy an entire new line up, so he has to manage what he's got. So far he's doing alright. I'm interested to see how he progresses the youth players and accommodates them into the squad, which I believe is one of Parish's long term aims.

PV did a very decent job last season when Mr Textor's money provided him with the tools.
Post that things have replied to type - we no longer have Gallagher, Kouyate was foolishly not re-signed, Macarthur has been unavailable & Benteke left without any replacement. The only tangible replacement on the midfielders above has been Decoure & we still haven't had any of the much needed upgrades on for example Ward (cruelly exposed last night), Luka and Ayew to make but 3.
PV has done and can carry on doing a good job for Palace, but and it is large one, Mr Parish must put aside his apparent lack of agreement with Mr Textor and over the next 9 days, provide the right back, central midfielder and hopefully another forward to get us comfortably to the end of the season when another restructure looks likely with so many out of contract players.

Overall I am happy with PV especially last season when we looked to be in serious trouble leading up to the start of the season.

This season has been strange and some of his decisions leave me baffled, but the things he can’t control are our individual mistakes which lead to goals and our woeful finishing of goal chances.

My main gripe as always is his constant use of Schlupp. I get the feeling that Schlupp is a project of his and he is determined to turn him into a certain type of player when in my view Schlupp doesn’t even resemble a football player most of the time.

If we can get ourselves a decent pair of ball playing full backs, a centre mid and a striker it will make all the difference.

100% Happy from me, we are just struggling a bit right now. All clubs have spells like this and questions are asked but IMO he has done a very good job to date.

Ridiculous statement, he may become one, but he certainly isn't yet, failed at Nice, over 100m spent, no sign of any improvement, in fact i think most players have deteriorated under him, poor formation selection for most of the season, lot of players playing out of position, until the last two games, no passion, the jury is very much out for me

What exactly do you expect? PV has actually done better league positionally than Roy, who originally inherited a decent squad. When that side was run down and out of contract PV had to pick up the pieces and start over.

Do you though? I'm starting to wonder.

I think Vieira has done enough for us to give him some patience. He has overseen the overhaul of the squad and transitioned the team to playing in a new way without us ever seriously looking in threat of being drawn into a relegation fight. Guehi and Mitchell both received England call-ups under his watch and Olise has been eased into the PL and has been improving. I'm not about to build a statue, but I'm happy with him at the helm.

Still learning his trade - can imagine him at a big side sooner or later. Football has definitely improved, we sometimes play well. Vieira has also shown willingness to just dig in a couple of times - so is not completely set in his ways like a previous manager was.
I don't like the complaints over substitutions - sometimes fatigue is just a factor. With Hughes kind of high intensity play, we can't just play him and never anyone else. We've had three matches close together - we had to rotate with the unfortunately sh1tty squad we have.
If people think Vieira can't hack it - then I would ask, who used Gallagher so well last season? There were and there are other managers who don't get a tap out of players. There are managers who wouldn't even play Gallagher.
I used to think Potter a superior manager if truth be told. Now I'm glad we have PV. I reckon he's starting to get the Palace way.
The caveat, however, is that it's obviously a results game. Palace have been known to sack if necessary, so anything could happen. Which is I guess the beauty of football that is being somewhat removed by the silly mega bucks.
