Actually, it was 3 from 1 followed by 6 from 24. Notwithstanding the one that was, but didn't count at all. Coventry, if you don't know what I'm talking about...

I was at Highfield Road that day, it happened at our end, there was stunned silece for about 20 seconds, then we all went mad, happys days

I think we know each other, Lanzo, and have been standing beside each other on various terraces for about half a century, without realising it :-)

Talking of Highfield Road, does anyone remember 1994? That's probably my favourite Coventry memory. 4-1 on a Tuesday or Wednesday night...Ricky Newman scored an absolute screamer. I think Andy Preece scored one too.

Bearing in mind the title of the thread, do these recent posts point to Lanzo and Syd re-uniting?

I have an exceedingly feint memory of travelling to 'Highfield Road' to witness us play.It was possibly in the 80s and I have a feeling that we were defeated.
I have an image of being seated in a corner section of the stand with the penalty area directly in front.

Certainly a great deal of water has passed under the bridge since that game and the years have dimmed my memory bank.

I dont remember that one Syd, but we probably have, Coach or Train?

Mostly train. The odd coach.

Best coach was from those years too. Sunderland away, late in the season we went up (1979) from memory. Sunderland was around the top of the table too so it was all to play for. It was a midweek game. Bunked off school, the coach must have left Selhurst early morning and ran into traffic a few miles from the ground after we go off the A1. It was clear we weren't to get there for kick-off so at some point where you could see the Roker floodlights, everyone just bailed and thought we'll run the rest of the way to the ground. Got to Roker must have been 15 minutes after the kickoff and we weren't going to hang around trying to figure out where our end was so we just paid up at the nearest turnstile and went in. As it happened, right into the Sunderland end lol. One of us asked the score to find out (again from memory) we were 2-0 up. Couldn't really react to that given where we were but the bloke's accent when he asked the question had given the game away. Some mackem c*** pulled a knife...we got out of there and found somewhere else to stand fast. Ended up seeing Sunderland score, winning 2-1, and then having to run the bloody gauntlet back to the coach after the game, which was parked on the seafront. And I do mean running the gauntlet. Sunderland fans having a go pretty much constantly for the last half-a-mile. Watford Gap about 3am on the way back...helped ourselves to pretty much every sandwich in the place lol. Got back to Selhurst about 5am. As I remember, bunked school the next day too.

Must be a Willo thing if it's happened before. A lot of your posts here remind me of someone passing water too :-)

Reading your stuff here, I always thought you were on the lash, not the slash. Well, that's me told :-)

I believe you are insinuating that my contributions on HOL have a substantial shareholding in bilge.

I suspect a view shared by a number of the great and good, hence my periods of contemplation as to whether the HOL would be better served by my absence.
I am 'Persona non grata' to a few, perhaps many, and I really do not want to be a hornet in the pants on this esteemed site.

Apropos 'Train', on occasions I used to take advantage of rail
travel organised by the 'Rail Travellers Club' run by Maurice Drewitt.
In terms of coach travel I recall travelling on a club coach for games at Shrewsbury, Camb Utd, Cardiff etc.
