The last twenty minutes the delivery has not been good enough.
Olise had acres of space on the right but made little use of it.
United were hanging on, but we weren't ruthless enough.

Totally agree. By now every team has figured out that as skilled as Olise is, he doesn't like contact so run at him and rough him up and his game deteriorates.

Why did he take schlupp off? He was the one player for us that looked like he wanted to get forward and make something happen! That's by far the best I've seen him play this season and it was higher up the pitch. He couldn't do any worse up front than the other two clowns we have as strikers. We were starting to take control after the sending off and then we lost all shape and momentum. The two new guys in midfield both looked good, so maybe we have some depth/competition there now (about bloody time).

Garnacho tackled by Richards, a foul isn't given, game goes on, Fernandes runs into the ref, we're breaking away and the ref pulls the game back. That sums up how games are refereed at Old Trafford. Thank god for VAR to spot Casimero attempting to kill Hughes! Antony, I think, is the most ridiculous player. It's like the scouts must have watched him doing ball juggling and tricks on the pier and said "Boy, this kid must be great".

Ultimately we lost to the better (and ridiculously expensively assembled) team, but at least in the end we made them work for it. I said before the game I hoped Schlupp played wide left and I thought he had his best game since last time he didn't play in central midfield. Ayew and Edouard did nothing to change my opinions of them. Not good enough by a long stretch. Olise played like he had more freedom without Wilf on the pitch, but his final ball was not always there. Still easily our biggest attacking threat without Wilf.

Eze needs a kick up the ar$e. He has a lot of talent, but he came on and was awful, giving the ball away and jogging back to recover. If he wants to get back in the team he has to earn it as it's been a long time since he had a good game.

Aside from Schlupp, Mitchell had Antony in his pocket and Richards had a solid game (despite Rashford constantly diving). Hughes was solid too and played a few good balls forward. A daft penalty, but he didn't intentionally raise his arm.

I'm back to finding it hard to decide which team are the biggest c*nts, Liverpool or United.

Been saying for a while that Eze is a waste of space. PV must suspect it too, but has to try and coax some sort of performance out of him, but it's just not happening. Seems to me that there's a reason why the likes of Spurs, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Fulham weren't interested. Ballon D'or? You're having a laugh. Get rid and hopefully recoup the fee.

We didn't start playing until the sending off and yet we had United rocking. I think if we had started with a more positive attitude we could have got something out of the game.

As Wolves have shown today against Liverpool you have to have a go. In the end United were lucky to escape with a win but at 11 men they were coasting because we allowed them to.

C'mon PV you need to get the team to be more aggressive.

One more point

They are in a different place to Liverpool right now, with this being their 14th straight home win, but I agree to an extent. However, I think the red card changed the attitudes of both teams. They wouldn't have gone that deep with 11 men, or ended the game with 4 centre backs.

Today did feel a bit like a Hodgson performance with a low block and clinging on in the hope of a lucky break. I just hope this tough run of games doesn't prove too demoralising.

Our only problem is still the forward line, why we insist on attackers who are unable to anticipate and haven't a clue where to be I'll never understand.

On the contrary holding our own against the top sides in the league ,Two draws and two one goal defeats should give the side confidence going into games of lesser standing .

Hughes was within a couple of feet of rashfords cross ,I thought those ones were deamed accidental ? Anyway not a bad effort ,we do what we do with what we have got and on another day it may have seen us nick a point . Always dissapointed with the loss but not disspondent

And we still need a striker

It’s long felt to me as though we have a load of forwards who have what are considered to be extra strings to their bow, alongside what should be their primary ability, putting the ball in the BOTN, but actually disguises the fact they can’t do the primary objective very well:

Ayew - workhorse
Wilf - Skill
Olise - Flair
Edouard - tidy
Mateta - Tall (albeit not much use)

It’s almost as if the search for a forward who brings something else has led to a forgetting the most important thing! Oh for a goalscorer!

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Hopefully we can get a surprise win against Brighton next weekend, as that would give us a real morale boost.

We had an unfortunate start and they had a gift, so obviously they were looking to kill us off early but we hung on I thought very well defensively, we continued with nice clean passing with just our awful inability to be first to lose balls being our undoing and I thought we finished the half practically on top.
But yet again Edouard appears unfit, he is quite hopeless with close control when given the ball and has serious issues with pace, Mateta to me appears to be more of a nuisance for defenders and he at least has an ability to be in the right place with good movement and heading abilities, Edouard just seems ....hopeless to me and I feel bad and sad saying it.
