Hasn't kicked on and developed as I thought he might. Starting to think he may never have the mindset or strength for the Premier League. Same goes for others - notably Eze. Is it our manager, or is it lightweight players? Just don't know what to think about our papier mache squad. Ayew isn't the answer but neither is Olise. We don't have an answer basically, and I wonder if Vieira knows the question.

There's a missing piece or two in the jigsaw . Maybe sign Lakonga on a permanent plus a young 25-20 goal taker...

I think Olise is more of a forward than a winger/midfield, similar to Wilf, but Wilf didn't have the upper body strength he has now at Olises age, Eze is a playmaker, who will find the runs players make, but nobody, Except Wilf, makes any runs, that is why Eze keeps passing sideways and backwards.

When we look at Hughes being never used. Jimmy Mac not going to cut it. Luka never plays - doesn't look good when he does. Riedewald - who's he? We need to sign several midfielders. Our only actual effective one is Doucoure.

'Spine' of a team always relevant for me and thus we need strength in goal, the CBs, the CM and a focal point up front.

That is not complete, for me, in this current team and until it is the likes of Olise and Eze will struggle in providing both the 'flair' but also the stability to the team in lieu of a reliable 'spine'.

I'll further add in having 'additional responsibilities' beyond their talents, if you will, the likes of Olise and Eze end up doing neither of the aforementioned sufficiently well.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Olise is a clear talent, but has still to find a role or position to best demonstrate his ability.
He’s not a Salah , Saka or a Mahrez cutting in from the right wing scoring a variety of goals almost like a striker.
He’s not a winger in the traditional sense going down the line and hitting a stream of crosses.
He’s not an old style inside forward like a Maddison or Odegard orchestrating attacks, although he has elements of this to his game and could develop.
To my mind he would be best employed at the moment in a wide midfield role on the right in a 442 or 451 , backed up by a strong fast right back who was capable of overlapping him on his outside.
However, since we don’t play with this system , or have a right back capable of performing this function, my theory is unlikely to be tested.

He's in the top 10 for number of assists in the PL this season and to my mind has been improving his end product. He'll end up playing at the very top if he stays free of injury. If he had a half-decent striker to aim for I believe he'd have double-digits for assists by now. So cool on the ball and has started working harder defensively. Was also PotM for February and got a goal of the month from the PL for his free-kick. Having said all that he was rubbish against Villa!

If our "top" players were anyway consistent they would not be at a club like Palace. And I include Zaha in that statement

I agree with taylors lovechild - you can see signs of Olise improving out-of-possession in recent games, and getting some useful tackles in.

I wish we could see him on the left.

I'm sure some statto can provide the evidence but 99% of his crosses are him cutting back and putting it in on his left. Which slows the attack down and gives the defender an easier angle.

We've debated many time on here (with Wilf) if inverted wide men are impacting our ability to score goals.
