Roy’s return would perfectly symbolise the Board’s total lack of ambition.

It would confirm the board have no vision at all….a total disaster.

We hardly need the return of Roy to confirm that. Presuming the Athletic article is reasonably accurate (and no reason to think it's not) Vieira's departure has hardly caught the board by surprise. It's been in their minds for over a year now. Yet they appear to have no succession plan in place at all other than a mooted desperation move to return an octogenarian to the dugout. That's directorial incompetence of an almost staggering degree. Utterly pathetic. It's Parish who needs to be given his marching orders.

Do you mean paralyse

Even the potential/suggestion of it has paralysed me..!!!

Surely not - really - no I’m having a nightmare..!!

So Parish sacked Vieria so as to retain our Premiership status - just seen an interview and he mentions - “fresh impetus” and his solution for that is a 75 year old Hodgson whose contract Parish decided not to renew for “fresh impetus” and a more expansive style of play..!!

You couldn’t make it up - and we wonder why the American investors won’t back us further- therein lies the answer Parish hasn’t got a clue nor any money - but still insists on running the Club..!!

Make no mistake Vieria lost his job today through lack of investment- which is largely due to Parish’s insistence of remaining in control- despite not having the financial resources or wherewithal to run a premiership club…!!

Parish’s answer we go “back to the future” and reappoint Roy - just to try and save his own skin - joke..!!

IMO - prepare for the Championship - coz that’s where we’re heading under Parish - even if we mange to stay up this season this will continue to happen until Parish exits stage left..!!

I’m off to put my “tin hat” on - as no doubt I’ve ruffled a few feathers on here - but that’s my opinion of where we are - which is if Roy is reappointed a very sad state indeed..!!

A heavy hearted COYP..!!

I would rule out Pardew, Allardyce, Holloway, Venables and Pulis - probably Coleman, too.

However, Dowie might bring a bottleful of precious energy and effervescence which could provide much-needed motivation/inspiration over the next few weeks.

No objection to Hodgson either - I think he could sort the midfield out and make shrewd player selections match-by-match.

In the short term, it will be very interesting to see how the team responds to Paddy Mac on Sunday - here's hoping they give him 100 per cent and more.

The obvious choice for me is Hassenhutl. 1. He's available. 2. For most of his tenure at Southampton, he had them punching above their weight, playing attractive football. It was only fourteen months ago that Man Utd was sniffing around him. 3. He's used to working for a useless board who don't support their manager. He knows the territory. 4. He knows the PL and he knows a relegation battle. 5. Given players of the quality we have, he knows how to set up a team.

I can't understand the vitriol being directed at Steve P

It was he who saved the club when it was on the brink.

His record of shrewd decision-making is unrivalled.

I think it will be Paddy McCarthy as a temp till the end of the season, if he does well who knows. We never seem to move very fast in these situations. I wouldnt mind if they got Shaun Derry back to assist. He was apparently let go after disagreeing with PV and laying into the players after the Everton loss, which i found a bit weird. Hodgson I dont think would work ... we have moved on a bit since those days ... plus he's far too old.
We have 11 games to pull out of this bad run and pick up 4 or 5 wins which should be doable with someone who knows the players, club set up etc. Im sure Parish will be aware of whats been going on in the dressing room and how we can best ride out the end of the season.

There's one common denominator behind all the managerial coming and going, and that's Parish. Wants Barcelona / Ajax tika taka total football, but on miserly budget. Good luck with that.
The Championship beckons.

I agree

You need to stop being so bothered about what the "footballing world" thinks about us. They don’t watch us play, they don’t have a clue what is going on.

All that matters is survival. Then we get to summer and we go again with a better manager than Vieira (hopefully).

I cant see where I said Im bothered what the footballing world thinks about us. Im bothered about what we are at the moment and bringing the most boring tactician in football back will bother me even more. If we do we will be a laughing stock.

Paddy, Lewington, Derry for me, although I expect Hodgson to get us through til the end of the season. A short term solution of which makes sense. If you read the Athletic article, the backroom staff Vieira has had is shocking. Vitriol at Parish...once again the usual people come out the woodwork about him, then apologise at end of season and say they were wrong....he did ok etc, rinse and repeat.

Fact is Vieira deceived last season because of Gallagher, the people behind the scenes aren't up to the task, none of the team has improved and it would be the correct decision looking at the stats and important areas.

You can't blame transfers for a young team being the laziest team in the Premier league.

Not to mention it's a board decision and not just the evil Mr Parish. The team has looked woeful in every area accept defensively. With the break coming up, it's the best time to regroup to go against teams around us.

He didn’t save the club on his own. Does saving the club exempt him from criticism indefinitely?
Shrewd decision making, which has worked on occasions but obviously hasn’t on others.
He has not got the personal wealth to continue running the club with the same voting rights as those who he wants to invest more.
Personally I think it’s a thanks for everything Steve but time to make way
