Parish has to keep putting a sticking plaster over his previous errors of judgement, running round like the plate spinning circus act desperate to keep the plates aloft.
Roy held the fort, nothing more. Actually he was saved by the lockdown, the gruel he served up wouldn't have been tolerated in front of a crowd. And now Patrick Vieira is the latest victim of poor planning and what is highly frustrating is that we were very nearly there last season with a competitive team capable of trading blows with the best. At that point investment in the right areas of the pitch to cover those players that had left would have held us in good stead.
Frankly I can't see any investor or potential manager coming here while Parish is still at the helm. The sooner he sells his stake and f***s off into the sunset the better for all involved.
Only a desperado would want to manage here given Parish's previous history.

I agree as well. 11 of us season ticket’s before Hodgson most for 20 years plus. After four seasons of that sh*t there was only 3 left, and those 3 btw are now considering fvcking it off as well. Not really the way to run a business eh.

I have received messages from irate supporters expressing such sentiments.

Suffice to say when one relieves a manager of his duties with some 10 games remaining in a PL relegation battle, one's options are limited in terms of permanent replacements.

Please not Roy, his time has been. I do not think it is worth appointing a Manager with 11 games to go & who in their right mind would want to take on such a position, only someone looking for a fast buck
Let Paddy McCarthy give it go with guidance from whoever is left within, the people who understand the Club & how it works.
In the meantime look for a suitable replacement including half a squad of players & hopefully if we stay up we are ready for the next season. None of this last minute.com from previous years which has left us in the position we find ourselves in now!

I guess, and hope, that the speculation about Roy returning is based on nothing more than Parish's casual response to a question.

That he could be an option, doesn't mean that he is!

The Atlantic article has the ring of truth and, if it is true, it indicates there were things behind the scenes we weren't aware of. Reading between the lines this begins to look like a decision that was forced on the board, rather than one they took proactively.

Finding a short-term stop-gap with the motivational skills to ensure enough points are gleaned from the remaining games against teams who are also scrapping for survival, isn't easy and it isn't Roy.

So I hope it's a permanent appointment, with maybe a release clause if they fail to keep us up, and a huge bonus if they do.

For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally.

I believe it was about 3 weeks ago, i was expressing privately and possibly on HOL, that my 'Needle' once on 'Positive' in terms of Vieira was moving in the dirextion of 'Negative' as I started to lose faith.

What i heard subsequently led me to conclude that in the interests of CPFC he had to he relieved of his duties ,indeed that this decision should have been made weeks ago. One supposes the 6 point 'cushion' to the relegation zone saved him from being shown the door earlier.

Palace want Roy Hodgson to take charge of the team until the end of the season after sacking Patrick Vieira this morning. The former England manager is set to hold talks with Steve Parish next week about a return to Selhurst Park.

Roy Hodgson returning as manager, even if it's only until the end of the season, is a terrible decision. The man will soon be 76. Like Biden he is too old for the job. We need energy and ambition to survive not Roy's style of negative football. I know he has a lot of supporters on here, and I understand why, but Roy has had his time. He might just save from relegation, who knows, but at what cost? Boredom. Dull mind-numbing boredom.

The way we’ve been playing in recent months I did not feel confident we would get the likely necessary 3 wins and few draws to stay up under Vieira.
As for the winnable future games I look at the last few months where we have failed to beat Everton, Forest, Fulham, Brentford , Southampton and Villa and couldn’t feel confident about future games either.
To win games you often need to score two goals and we’ve been struggling to even score one goal in games under Vieira .

The brief for the manager for the remainder of the season is clear.
Find a way to get us scoring some goals to give us an opportunity to win some games.
Try and instil some backbone into the team so we don’t go missing against the likes of Villa and Brighton after falling a goal behind.
I have some concerns about whether Roy (if it’s him) has the tools available in the current squad to play the counter attacking football which he had last time.
There was PVA , Townsend, Zaha and Schlupp available to allow us to counter attack.
The former 2 have left and the latter 2 no longer have the same pace.

I guess you won't be applying then.

All out of work managers are desperate.

Roy would be an utterly depressing appointment who would serve absolutely no purpose as far as I'm concerned. Let's not forget that our problem is an inability to score goals, he's the manager you appoint when you can't defend. If we appoint him we should have just kept Vieira.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...
