Hassenhutl seems OK but tends to be overly miserable for my liking. We're not ready for Potterball - our flair players need greater freedom. As for Benitez, he's a big club man and we're too small for him. Finally, I can't see Big Sam accepting the financial constraints that are likely to be imposed. Hopefully this post will get us back on track to look at genuine alternatives to Hodgson for next season. None of the above failures. I cant see Roy being interested in a full season slog, this 10 game cameo obviously suited him. I would go for Ange Postecoglou.

Not seen him mentioned before, although he's done a good job at Celtic. Not sure how a brash Aussie would get along with Mr Parish. I agree with you about Doombear's suggestions though.

I've listed only managers who have managed in the PL with varying degrees of success. Neither Rodgers nor Moyes are 'failures' as you call them unless you deem all managers who haven't won the PL 'failures'. Rodgers had successful stints with all three PL clubs he has managed. He seems to go well for 3 seasons before things start going south but then how many PL managers last 3 years these days? He is a proven PL manager. Moyes likewise has had successful stints at both Everton and West Ham and is one of the most experienced PL managers of the current era. One might point to his time at Man U as a failure but then so was Hodgson's at Liverpool but that doesn't make Hodgson a failure.

He went to Real Sociedad and he was relieved of his duties, then on to Sunderland who were relegated under him. He was appointed at W.Ham until the end of the season after they sacked Bilic and he led them to 13th place in the PL. He was not re-appointed with W.Ham preferring Manuel Pellegrini.Moyes was brought back into the fold when W.Ham sacked Pellegrini halfway through the season with the club in 17th place and they ended the season in 16th position. Looking at the dire hoof ball that they were playing. It was hardly the 'West Ham way' A mixture of long punts up the park and long throw ins, a mixture of Crazy Gang Wimbledon and Tony Pulis' Stoke as he has assembled a team of 6 foot musclemen, dependent upon set pieces and long throw ins for goal. There is no one out there that could do a better job and keep these players confident and free flowing like Roy paddy and ray have done , it would be stupid not to give them another year

Mr Parish, if you are perusing this thread, get Roy in for a chat and ask him if he'd fancy another year. Another year to plan with Paddy keeping an eye on the cream of the crop from the Academy in preparation for first team call up.

Moyes and Rodgers were doing a great job at their respective clubs until this season then the wheels came off. West Ham could still win a European trophy mind. I really rate Rodgers I just think he'd gone stale at Leicester and the lack of investment killed them. That does happen, even with the best managers. I don't think he'd come to us though. There isn't really room for us to grow much unless we suddenly receive an unexpected investment boost so for me it's really only two things. 1. Can they keep us in the PL. Roy ticks the first box for me. I still have reservations about the second. Given Parish's recent comments about relegation I can see why his focus would be primarily on point 1. As others have said, 38 PL games + cup games is a big difference from a 10 game cameo. I still have big doubts as to whether he has the energy for a 40+ game season.

If Roy decides he is fit enough we have to trust him. If peoples’s only reservation against him is his age then that is ageism just ask Trump, Biden, the Pope, King Charles, the Dali lami, old mam Milner, etc etc. In Roy we trust.
